I just posted an article from ALIPAC about Target removing a "politically incorrect" costume. Yep, they caved.
However, the store doesn't seem to have a problem in the world trashing President Bush or Hillary Clinton.
I was shopping in Target Friday and happened to walk by our local store's Halloween card section. A card with a mask of Obama on the cover caught my attention and I had to read. You'd think that since it was Halloween the card would have been scary, but nope, it had some mushy love Obama message.
No biggie, no problem with that. He's the Prez and it's OK to have a nice Halloween card about him.
But then I looked up at the cards above.
One was a card with President Bush saying something about having a third term... open it up and it's a message about scaring you to death.
There was another trashing Hillary Clinton... two women yakking about going as a bitch for Halloween...
Another that trashed George Bush and Dick Cheney.
I was disgusted. There was not one negative, scary Obama card... not like past Halloween holidays where Target had some for both sides of the aisle, poking fun equally.
So what's going on with Target? Scared to step on Obama's toes? Scared they'll be called racist? Scared that someone will picket or come after then because they dared to be fair? Why not just have the nice card about Obama and not carry the ones trashing Bush, Cheney or Clinton?
I plan to take another trip back to the local Target and check out the cards a bit more closely. I'm also going to take a look at the Halloween costumes. If after double checking I confirm my "findings" then yours truly will not be shopping at Target, and I'll certainly be encouraging others to do the same.
If you're looking for signs our country is undergoing a sea change, that's a small one in some ways, but it's a big one in others. It seems that every day I see more and more signs that things they be a changin' in our once-great-country. It's subtle in many cases, but when you stack 'em all together, we're in HUGE trouble. We can't afford to just write off these seemingly small things, we have to stand up, make noise... peacefully, but loudly and with clarity.

What's the rush on the health care bill?
I've been pondering this one for weeks, reading articles, listening to pundits, talking with friends. There are as many opinions as there are pundits.
At first, the rush would have been, in my opinion, to keep the American people in the dark. The idea being to get it through before we all woke up.
Didn't happen. We're awake and roaring.
Then the rush became one to get it through before the tide turned completely. The more information that leaked out or made it past the media barrier they've erected, the unhappier the public would become.
Another reason to push is to get it done so they can move on and tackle other things looming on the horizon while they still have a majority in Congress. Card check. Global warming (now climate change since they can't adequately explain the cold weather and temperature decreases). All the rest of the mess Obama is trying to push down America's collective throat.
Obama has a lot to finish up before the 2010 elections. Maybe he feels it's now or never. But then again, he must know, or worry, that if he pushes all his mess through before November 2010, quite possibly the elections will bring a veto-proof majority from the "other side" into Congress. If that happens he has risked a lot given they'll hopefully reverse many, if not most, of his radical changes and he'll have a Congress who won't jump when he says jump.
Which brings me back to wondering why Obama and his crew are willing to risk losing Congress in 2010 just to push through some or all of his agenda. They must have something in the wings they think will protect them in the 2010 elections.
That is the only logical reason I can see for alienating and rousing the sleeping majority.
As said, I believe the end result of success in getting those Obama policies and bills through, the ones we KNOW about at least, is quite assuredly that Obama and the Democrats will lose their stranglehold on Congress in 2010.
Or do they think that once we have health care ala Obama that we'll love it by 2010? or that we'll go back to sleep? What are they banking on? I just can't believe that the Democrats are dumb enough to risk their elected office to get Obama's agenda through.
Maybe Obama is counting on the fact that if he can push more people over to dependency on government by the time the 2010 elections roll around they'll vote to keep those who're giving out the handouts in office. It would be a diabolical plot wouldn't it?

Maybe Obama believes that the financial crisis combined with the Democratic majority combined with his Presidency is a divine mandate to enact his very radical agenda.
Maybe he truly believes that if he can get all this through, the upheaval, turmoil and destruction of the values and precepts in the Constitution will result in a better America, a better world.
Maybe he believes that once we get through it we'll embrace his new world.
Then again, maybe he doesn't care whether we do or not. After all, he'll be part of the new elite and won't have to deal with whatever pain you and I, the "worker class" have to endure.
No matter what he believes about where we're heading under his 'leadership', he still has to get through the 2010 elections. Which brings me back to the thought that he must have something up his sleeve for next year. Although I mentioned

July 2, Colorado Springs: "We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."
The government "ACORN"? The secret weapon in the 2010 election?
ACORN, the biggest Obama getting vote thief, is running for cover at the moment. It's a victory of sorts, but the people who make up ACORN aren't going away. They'll just find new organizations and new hidey-holes. The demise or diminishing of ACORN may actually have the reverse effect of energizing some of the Left's minions. Maybe they'll sign up for the new Obama civilian army... or he'll put them in charge of it.
Something is going on. When I look at all the pieces of the Obama agenda and start to try and make it into a cohesive completed puzzle, I still haven't quite figured out what it's going to look like. The pieces that are still missing for me are the "hows" of getting through the 2010 elections.
Maybe he doesn't think we'll be able to act in concert to 'kick the bums out' in 2010. Maybe he underestimates the numbers. Maybe he's forgetting that for every Tea Party protester, there are 20, 50, 500 or more sitting at home watching, believing, encouraging and waiting to show their ire at the ballot box.
I have never been so proud of our America as I was when I saw the numbers marching in Washington on September 12th and then got reports from across the country of similar efforts going on in small and large towns. We're out here. We're out there. Hopefully we'll still have the right to vote in a free and honest election in 2010. If we do, change is going to happen. Real change. The right kind of change.

Fired up about coordinated attacks on insurance companies...
OK, I don't love insurance companies. I've always had a hard time forking over money for something that may never happen. But, on the flip side, when I've needed 'em, I've sure been glad they were there.
But liking them, hating them, thinking they're needed, wishing they weren't, isn't the issue. Would I like to see some changes? Sure. I'd also like to see changes at General Motors, Microsoft, Comcast, etc., etc., etc., too. Do I want government types going after them? sticking their fingers into their business? telling them how much money they can pay? Nope.
Do I like the idea of Obama and friends demagoging* them to promote their health care "reform"? Definitely not.
The Dems have a number of strategies they're using to steer the American sheep toward the government health care corral... or slaughterhouse...
The 'they're all a bunch of racists' tactic is resonating with some. The 'mob / nasty right-wing / old white people' tactic is resonating with another group. The 'hate and blame insurance companies' is going to resonate with some others.
Obama and friends have organized to really focus on the hate and blame insurance companies tactic.
The Wall Street Journal did a piece on the organized, scripted, targeting of insurance agencies by Health Care for American Now (HCAN) on Sept. 19th (see below). The group, supported by ACORN, MoveOn.org and others, is going to be protesting outside the doors of local insurance companies starting... oh dear, starting today... I should have written about this yesterday! Be sure to watch the"mainstream" media tonight 'cause you know it'll be a big story (although here in Georgia they're going to be competing with the horrific flooding issues we've experienced, so maybe they'll wait a few days for the paid picketers to go into action).
The stated goal of the group is to garner media attention and make villains of insurance companies. They think we're stupid, they think we can be led. Unfortunately there are a lot of sheep-types holding their hands up... no out... saying "feed me, take care of me, it doesn't matter if the end result is the destruction of our country".
A few minutes ago a friend sent me another article from the Wall Street Journal about Max Baucus going after Humana for having the audacity to question a portion of his Bill. Read the article (below) and then ask yourself, as my friend did, if it's like this NOW, what's it going to be like if the government takes over health care? Ya think they're imperialistic, my way or the highway, I know what's best for you and your family, types now??? Wait until they own it all.
The libs are GOOD at using the media, at using our dislikes and fears, at steering the sheep and some who sit on the fence. I doubt we're even seeing the barest tip of the 'cram health care down their throats' campaign that's in the works.
I pray we have more true American spirit than sheep and that we prevail. We need to hold out, if we can, until the 2010 elections. They know they're in deep doo-doo if they don't get their agendas passed before the next round of elections. We're in for some major, major upheavals if they succeed with a fraction of what Obama and company have said they plan to implement. It's going to be wild ride on a herd of bucking broncos to try and stop enough of their agenda to save America. Put on your spurs, extra thick chaps and buy stock in bandages. We have to win, we have to succeed.

But Max Baucus's latest bullying tactics are hard to believe by even these standards, as the Senate Finance Chairman has sicced federal regulators on the insurer Humana Inc. for daring to criticize one part of his health bill.

Obama: Furthering the Divide
The President's choice to ignore millions and millions of Fox News viewers Sunday morning combined with the denigration of Fox News on the White House website* seems rather contradictory to his claim of wanting to bring the country together.
It seems that if he were truly interested in lessening the so-called division he would reach out to those who didn't walk in lock-step with his health care plans.
In the Fox News viewership there are millions who are on the fence. They want health care reform, as do I, but they're not sure they want what Obama promotes. Many know they don't want him to succeed in implementing his ideas regarding health care.
He said he was going on TV to battle fear (paraphrased) of a change or transition in health care. It seems that since he obviously believes, per his website, that most who are "fearful" of his health care proposals watch Fox News, it should have been included in the list of "musts" for his Sunday morning blitz. Logically, Fox viewers are the ones he should have been trying to placate, calm or convince. Instead he spoke to an audience comprised of those who are, for the most part, predisposed to support him in whatever he does.
On the topic of fear
It's not fear of a transition, it's fear of what he is proposing. We want change. We need change. But I defy anyone to come up with ANYTHING the government has "fixed" or truly improved since the early days of our country's formation. Welfare. Social Security. Medicaid. Medicare. The Post Office. The IRS. All riddled with corruption, or incompetence, or people protecting their jobs, power or little fiefdoms.
Why wouldn't we be fearful of government intervention? Those in Washington make laws and implement rules then go on about their merry way expecting someone down the chain of command to make things work. They add layers of bureaucracy to oversee and manage agencies, then only get involved when it's time to dole out more money or deal with a crisis. We all know that "government" is some huge, bulky, bloated, blob of self-protective agencies and groups that grow without any real checks and balances. Why would we want to take one more piece of America and feed it to "the blob"?
Why doesn't President Obama want to talk with some Americans?
If Mr. Obama really thinks his way of changing health care is right, if he has a good plan to sell to the American public, why is he working so hard to alienate the majority of American TV viewers? Fox News by far outranks all the other news stations in viewership. By refusing to include Fox in his round of talks Sunday morning, he came across as divisive and / or like someone scared to talk to those who have the audacity to question him.
Perhaps his plan is to solidify his soldiers, his waffling supporters, and those who pretty much walk in lock-step. Possibly he felt he needed to prove to those on the far Left that he was "with them" by snubbing the independent, moderate and yes, far right viewers on Fox News. Could be that he's playing a game of appeasement as he knows the public option that the far Left crave won't openly be in the final plan.
A long term plan destined to fail
I don't think Mr. Obama does anything without strong calculation as to the long-term outcome. For some reason he is trying to widen the gap between the so-called Right and Left in America. I think he's going to succeed to some degree to widen the gap between the extremes, it's already apparent. But I also think he'll ultimately fail as he is pushing the moderate Left to the middle as newly self-claimed "Independents". More and more in America are calling themselves "conservative" or "independent" as they contrast themselves with the direction they see President Obama, Nancy Pelosi and friends taking the country.
He has awoken the sleeping giant of usually silent Americans and is forcing them to choose sides. He gambled that most believed as he did based on election results and the cocoon of society he has surrounded himself with in life. I think he's finding out he lived in a world that doesn't reflect the vast majority's values.

I think he's going to succeed to some degree to widen the gap between the extremes, it's already apparent. But I also think he'll ultimately fail as he is pushing the moderate Left to the middle as newly self-claimed "Independents". More and more in America are calling themselves "conservative" or "independent" as they contrast themselves with the direction they see President Obama, Nancy Pelosi and friends taking the country.
He has awoken the sleeping giant of usually silent Americans and is forcing them to choose sides. He gambled that most believed as he did based on election results and the cocoon of society he has surrounded himself with in life. I think he's finding out he lived in a world that doesn't reflect the vast majority's values.

Obama refused to appear Fox News with Chris Wallace throughout the 2008 election, although he appeared on every other imaginable news outlet. Remember Wallace's “Obama Watch” that counted up 768 days from when Obama agreed to appear and his one and only talk with Wallace?

Obama continues to errode election integrity
Over and over I hear people saying that things are going to get so bad that by the time the 2010 and / or 2012 elections roll around the voters will put Republicans back in control. If not in control, then at least there will be sufficient Republican numbers elected to mitigate Obama's actions.
I wonder if our vote will matter by the time we head to polls in 2010. I fear that by the next national election cycles the integrity of our voting system have been so corrupted we won't win no matter how many of us cast the "right" vote.
When I share my concerns with friends I can feel their skepticism. I feel their eyes rolling upwards even if they're too courteous to do anything more than nod politely.
However, the feeling persists, especially as I read reports from across the country of problems with election results.
Just like most of you I've watched with interest some of the close elections like the comedian versus Norm Coleman. It's a foregone conclusion that if it's a close election the Democrat will sooner or later take the seat. Hook, crook or fudge, the end result is consistently that the Republican loses on some technicality.
Bit by bit Obama and friends are nipping away at our election process. I won't go into all the problems with ACORN and similar groups. If you're the kind of person who reads my blogs then you're also the kind of person who knows about ACORN.
Obama has just taken an axe and almost chopped through the trunk of the mighty oak tree of voter integrity in Georgia. The ruling (below) could completely topple the stalwart old oak and knock off one state that voted against Obama in last year's elections.
If this ruling is any indicator of what he's doing across the country, my fears may have just moved from the "chicken-little paranoia"column into the "gee, maybe she's right to be worried" column.
Regardless of my concerns and fears, as I've said before, I'll fight to the end for our country and our values. I'll do everything in my puny power to protect the integrity of our elections. I may not have much power alone, but if enough of us get concerned, if enough of us collaborate, maybe we can affect the outcome. Maybe we will be able to put our country back on the right track.

The decision comes seven months after Georgia requested an expedited review of the preclearance submission.
“DOJ has thrown open the door for activist organizations such as ACORN to register non-citizens to vote in Georgia’s elections, and the state has no ability to verify an applicant’s citizenship status or whether the individual even exists. DOJ completely disregarded Georgia’s obvious and direct interest in preventing non-citizens from voting, instead siding with the ACLU and MALDEF. Clearly, politics took priority over common sense and good public policy.
“This process is critical to protecting the integrity of our elections. We have evidence that non-citizens have voted in past Georgia elections and that more than 2,100 individuals have attempted to register, yet still have questions regarding their citizenship. Further, the Inspector General’s office is investigating more than 30 cases of non-citizens casting ballots in Georgia elections, including the case of a Henry County non-citizen who registered to vote and cast ballots in 2004 and 2006.

Additionally, if the applicant previously reported to DDS that he or she is not a U.S. citizen, that person is asked by a registrar to provide proof of citizenship.
Prior to the November 2008 General Election, Secretary Handel sent letters to 4,771 voter registration applicants whose records at DDS indicated they were not U.S. citizens, asking them to provide documentation of their citizenship. As of March 2009, 2,148 of these applicants still have chosen not to resolve the question about their U.S. citizenship.
In the November 2008 General Election, county election officials reported that 599 individuals cast a challenged ballot because the voter had previously indicated to DDS that he or she was not a United States citizen and had not resolved their status with county officials at the time of the election. Of those, 369 ballots were accepted because the voter provided documentation of their citizenship after the election; and 230 were rejected because the individual chose not to confirm his or her citizenship status.

On October 16, 2008, U.S. District Court Judge Jack Camp denied the motion by MALDEF and ACLU; directed the State to continue the verification process; and acknowledged the State’s requirements to verify information under the Help America Vote Act. In his order, Judge Camp stated:
HAVA requires that Defendant Handel match information in the statewide voter registration database with information from the Georgia DDS and the SSA databases “to the extent necessary to enable each such official to verify the accuracy of the information provided on the applications for voter registration.”

Karen Handel was sworn in as Secretary of State in January 2007. The Secretary of State's office offers important services to our citizens and our business community. Among the office’s wide-ranging responsibilities, the Secretary of State is charged with conducting efficient and secure elections, the registration of corporations, and the regulation of securities and professional license holders. The office also oversees the Georgia Archives and the Capitol Museum.

What? Not even lip service Mr. Obama?
Our new President has decided to shun the annual National Day of Prayer service and the Catholic breakfast held the following day. He says he's reverting back to the days prior to President Bush.
Ummm.... this is the sixth annual National Catholic Prayer Breakfast. He doesn't have to go back that far to boycott the Catholics, just six years. Of course, he doesn't seem to be going out of his way to embrace Catholics anyway, so any excuse to avoid them will do I suppose.
I can't say with any certainty which Presidents have attended a service on the National Day of Prayer (NDP), if any. In reading historical accounts the bill enacting the current NDP wasn't signed into law until 1952. President Truman did the honors. Seems to me that some of the presidents since then might have attended a prayer service. However, there were various national days of prayer prior to that and it appears that President Lincoln and other Presidents participated in whatever they called it during their time in office. I'll let you know if I ferret out any more info on who has or has not attended since 1952.
Whether previous Presidents chose to attend a service or not doesn't matter today. If I were in President Obama's shoes, you better believe I'd have my butt sitting in a pew of a church on the day designated for prayer for our country.
Kind of a no-brainer to me. Whether I'm Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, Latter Day Saint, Jehovah Witness or any other brand of Christian, I'm praying that day. If I'm President, I'm going to let the people of the nation know that I'm praying. Can we say "moral booster", Mr. Obama?
I have a LOT to say about this one...
It's not as if Obama isn't having problems with the Catholics already. He covered up Jesus and Christian symbols when he spoke at Georgetown University causing a bit of a stink. He's pushing through every pro-abortion action conceivable. Then there's the stem-cell issue, something that offends many of faith.
Now he's snubbing the Catholic prayer breakfast?
It's not as if there aren't a ton of people in this country wondering if he is Muslim or Christian. The idea that he may lean Muslim has been fostered by the bow to the Saudi King, his willingness to speak to terrorist nations without precondition and other actions (or lack of actions). He hasn't chosen a church (unless I missed something these past few weeks). He says he prays, but doesn't say if it's to a Christian God or just in general.
Now he's boycotting a Christian prayer service? Once which was enacted BY a President and has been ongoing since 1952?
Our country is in turmoil and we're battling to keep our heads above the financial waters. Our economy has tanked, capitalism is under assault, our military is trying to follow orders in Afghanistan as they receive mixed messages, the CIA is wondering what the repercussions will be for legal actions they make today... the list of things causing us angst is way too long for one blog.
Now Obama is avoiding a prayer breakfast that if nothing else gives a symbolic sense of concern and caring?
He shows a distinct lack of concern for those who believe. He shows disdain for the Catholic Church by rebuffing the Prayer Breakfast.
There are some things that people in leadership do just because they should. Whether he believes or not, it's a small thing to go to a prayer breakfast. By choosing not to go he just added another log, as opposed to straw, to the camels breaking back. Now more of us are going to question his motivations, his actions, his beliefs and his faith. If he'd opted to go? It would have been a short bit of time from his schedule. He would have shown that he respected the Christian faith and the Church. Questions wouldn't have been raised.
People of no faith are in the minority in this country according to statistics, whether we regularly go to church or not. He would have offended less by going than by not.
Instead he seemingly scorns this annual event where Christian leaders pray for our country, our leaders and the world. He scorns those of us who believe in the importance of prayer by not paying lip-service at a minimum.

President Obama is distancing himself from the National Day of Prayer by nixing a formal early morning service and not attending a large Catholic prayer breakfast the next morning.
All Mr. Obama will do for the National Day of Prayer, which is Thursday, is sign a proclamation honoring the day, which originated in 1952 when Congress set aside the first Thursday in May for the observance.

The National Day of Prayer Task Force's mission is to communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, mobilizing the Christian community to intercede for America and its leadership in the seven centers of power: Government, Military, Media, Business, Education, Church and Family.

Global gun control?
Saturday our local probate judge attended our regular Republican monthly breakfast. I was chatting with her when someone came up and said told her wanted to get a permit to carry a concealed weapon. The judge said, with a chuckle, to get in line, they were being overwhelmed with requests. She figured that pretty much everyone in our county must have a permit or be in line to get one.
Our county has one of the lowest crime rates in the state. We have tough law enforcement. We have tough judges. No hand-holding here... crooks and druggies know they're going away if caught here. In fact, surrounding counties work with law enforcement to lure drug dealers into our county for busts because they know they'll get their butts kicked.
Crime is increasing in the county though. I suppose it's because we have a higher per capita income and that's attractive to crooks. They all figure they're going to be able to get away with whatever crime they want to commit, don't they?
Even with the rising crime rate, we're still seeing less than the rest of the state. I rather like living here, although I could live without that ticket I received recently.
One of the reasons people are lining up for gun permits, not just concealed weapon permits, is they see bad times coming on a number of fronts. The current crew would take away every law abiding citizen's guns if they could. They'd then wonder why the crime rate sky-rocketed. Although, maybe they're looking for excuses for marshal law. Who knows.
Many are reasoning that they'd better get their guns now while they can, just in case Obama and friends are successful in banning guns. I would bet the number of reported stolen guns will probably be on the rise in the near future, too, as people figure out that there's a record of gun ownership and their guns can be confiscated.
Another reason people are wanting to get their guns now is they know crime is increasing. Whether it's from the downturn in the economy or the wimpy judges we're seeing or the new give everyone a break mentality that's permeating our society, many see that things aren't going to get better in the crime arena. Best to have your own protection.
You can't love a criminal or a sociopath into not shooting when they're standing in front of you with their hand on the trigger of a gun. You sure can stop them if you are fast enough with your own gun or have one at the ready when they break down your door.
If you think an America without guns for law-abiding citizens would be bad, how about a world without legal guns? One thing that I never hear anyone explain is how they're going to take guns away from criminals. Even if we stopped manufacturing guns around the world legally, criminals are going to find a way to stockpile those already in existence, and then have factories to make their own.

Our county has one of the lowest crime rates in the state. We have tough law enforcement. We have tough judges. No hand-holding here... crooks and druggies know they're going away if caught here. In fact, surrounding counties work with law enforcement to lure drug dealers into our county for busts because they know they'll get their butts kicked.
Crime is increasing in the county though. I suppose it's because we have a higher per capita income and that's attractive to crooks. They all figure they're going to be able to get away with whatever crime they want to commit, don't they?
Even with the rising crime rate, we're still seeing less than the rest of the state. I rather like living here, although I could live without that ticket I received recently

Video of Obama BOWING to the Saudi King
You'll note that there are other tall people shaking hands with shorter people on this video. Somehow they manage to do so without bowing... Then in walks Obama, BOWS to the King and then shakes his hand. The only way a person would have to BOW to shake someone's hand would be if they were 3 feet tall. Uh, isn't the Queen of England shorter than the Saudi king? Gee, I didn't see Obama bowing down to grab her hands.
Does the White House think in this day of illumination via the Internet that the American public is stupid enough to believe their revisionist accounting of the BOW???? Oh, wait, I forgot. There are still people out there who admit they voted for him, who still thinks he walks on water, who will discount every bit of proof simply because "The One" says it ain't so.

What did you take away from Obama's 10-day trip?
After listening to Obama's speech this morning in Turkey on the last leg of his ten day trip, I started mulling over all the bits and pieces of speeches, news stories and commentary I've heard these past few days. I have been highly unsettled by the snippets of change that have permeated his first trip abroad.
Here's my overall impression of Obama's tour:
We're screwed.
I should probably stop there, but you know I can't, I have to explain just a little.
Obama is working hard to make America just like every other nation in the world. He's like one of those guys who wants to be liked and loved at any cost. He seems to think that by denigrating our country we'll be loved. No, we'll be weak. We'll be stepped upon.
Doesn't he understand human nature? All a patsy is good for is to run errands and get kicked around by the big bullies. America has always had a big heart and we give because we choose to give, because we care. We want to elevate others who don't have as much, who need a hand up in support. Obama is ignoring all that is good about our country and setting us up to be the patsy.
Can anyone point to anything good that will come from standing down with our nuclear weapons at a time when North Korea is stepping up their efforts to help Iran?
Who can share anything good that the United Nations has done for the world? the United States? If the United Nations had followed through with the sanctions and stood up to terrorism, this world would be well on the way to being a more peaceful entity.
I could go on and on with examples of what I perceive to be huge blunders Obama is making in dealing with our allies and adversaries. I believe if he truly loved and understood our country he would not be able to make the statements and choices he's making.
After ten days on the road Obama has made me feel more vulnerable. We're on shaky grounds in our country as a result of the choices he and his Congressional allies have made. Now we're on even shakier ground in the area of security. Bullies don't reach out and hug the one who exposes their weakness, they take advantage of it.
The damage that Obama has just done won't immediately be apparent. Right now I think the nations of the world are publicly sucking up to the Big O and playing to his vanity. Behind his back they're snickering.

History is being written.
History books of the future will write about this moment in America. The big question is what will be written?
It appears that we're headed for this version:
Of course, we could see this:
I'm hoping for the second scenario. If the first comes true, it ain't gonna be as pretty as the government controlled history books and media will portray.
It is impossible, completely impossible, to thwart or squelch our basic human drives to the point where we'll work simply to give it away to those who won't lift a finger for themselves. We want to see the fruits of our labor. We are competitive by nature and nothing the government does is going to change our basic nature.
If you take away our ability to work toward goals that improve our existence, our souls wilt and die. We give because we want to give, not because we're forced to give.
In a perfect world, minus any corruption, mental illness, psychological quirks, insecurities, greed and power hungry individuals, socialism might work. Actually, if you think about it, you may find that your vision of Heaven is somewhat socialistic. Big difference being that all those nasty quirks of human nature I mentioned won't exist in Heaven.
In socialistic cultures there are still the haves and have nots. Does anyone really believe the Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid or Barack Obama types will live in same housing most of us will be relegated to in the future world? Will they get exactly the same treatment? Will they be on the same list we're on as we wait for medical care?
All those who believe in the world Obama is painting are being deceived.
What happens when people like me stop working? When we're taxed, penalized, tromped on long enough there won't be any incentive to produce. When the government steps in to take the fruits of my labor, what reason will I have to work? Why shouldn't everyone's hand be out equally? What makes the leech better than the person who strives to improve their life through hard work or innovation?
Those who are now paying the tab and providing jobs for the majority are being punished. They are being made the scapegoats to further Obama's long-term goal. He's firing up the masses and they're following along believing someday they too, will eat caviar and drink champagne.
Obama is in the process of re-ordering society. It may seem to work on paper, but the reality is that there will always be those who scramble to be at the top of any society. In the world he seems to be creating, there will still be a "higher" class. It will be made up of those who are able to "work the system". Ultimately, there will be the government class and then the rest of us, the masses who will all be equally miserable.
Watching all the happenings at the G20 Summit and in Washington I believe more and more that our country is slipping away. Many, possibly the majority, are continuing to live their lives as though nothing is going to change. I think it's part of our nature, too, in this country at least, to believe that things will always work out. We believe that we'll make things better, find a way past any adversity.
I'm afraid that may not be so if more of us don't wake up, stand up and speak up.
Despite the gloom and doom I just spewed, I am clinging to my hope, my guns, my religion and my belief in America. I do believe we have the ability to overcome all that is being thrown at us. I am counting on America to wake up as more and more seem to be doing.

FRC Defends Tony Dungy's Selection To Obama's Faith-Based Council
Family Research Council President Tony Perkins released the following statement in response to President Obama's invitation to Tony Dungy, former coach of the Indianapolis Colts, to join the President's Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.
"I was pleased to hear that Tony Dungy, coach of the Indianapolis Colts, has been asked to serve on the President's Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. I may not be a sports buff, but I've always been a fan of men of character. Tony Dungy has been that for me and for countless Americans who admire him - not just for his victories on the field but in life. He has used his celebrity platform to promote adoption, prison ministry, family values, outreach to the poor, and simple Christian decency.
"If Coach Dungy chooses to accept this role, let's hope President Obama will be open to the counsel he offers on behalf of millions of other Bible-believing Christians. We hope the Faith Council will work to channel pro-family policies - rather than simply being used by the President as a tool to make political inroads with the Christian community.
"I encourage him to consider serving in this role. Opponents of traditional marriage are seeking to disqualify Coach Dungy simply for believing that marriage is the union of one man and one woman which is a view shared by more than 80 percent of American Evangelicals. Georgia Residents go Door-to-Door in Support of President Obama’s Budget
Just thought I'd pass this one along... Wonder if we should be organizing to go door to door to explain just what Obama, Pelosi and friends are doing to our country? freedoms? government? children's future???? economy?
This is going on across the country. What you want to bet that ACORN is helping, too? Can we say "brainwash"? I left off the dates and times, don't want to help in any way on this one.

If it weren't for the rest of the stuff, I'd be laughing
Most Democrats, many Independents, and even a few Republicans flocked to Obama because he promised "Change" with a capital C. War on terror? Gone. Excess spending? Gone. Huge government, excesses? Gone. Earmarks? Gone. The schism between the two Parties? Gone.
Everyone from the media to the mindless masses swallowed his lines and gulped the kool-aide.
Now we're living with the reality of Obamavision.
War? Shift the troops to Afghanistan and pull 'em back from Iraq. When are the troops coming home? Roughly the same time President Bush said they'd be coming home and a bit further out than Obama originally promised.
Excess spending? Without the stimulus-porkulus-scamulus package Obama's budget still, especially coupled with the $410 billion Omnibus package and all the other bits he's doling out, makes Bush look like Ebenezer Scrooge.
Cutting back on government? Hold on, I am having to laugh at this one... picture busy little bees building glorious hives, ever expanding hives, bzzzzz, bzzzz... except the end result sure isn't going to be sweet. Maybe a better analogy would have been the killer ants that sweep through areas decimating them.
Earmarks? He stood strong on that one for all of about ten seconds didn't he? Have you ever heard such a lame excuse as the one he is using to justify the signing of the killer Omnibus (if it gets through, when it gets through). He's not going to veto the bill that President Bush said he'd veto because it was something that got started during the "I'll veto it" Bush administration. Wouldn't it make a bit more sense to say, well, President Bush wouldn't approve it during his administration, and I don't believe in earmarks, so I will veto it unless you strip the earmarks?
I wish every Republican who had an earmark in the Omnibus would stand up and ask to have it dropped from the bill. Wouldn't that say something? It would also take "true grit" and we know that's something many of our Republicans haven't got. Yet.
Kumbaya, love and happiness between the Republicans and Democrats? Sure, Obama said he was a miracle worker. Then he starts pumping out advanced socialism (as opposed to socialism 101), starts printing money like it's not real, raids the kids piggy banks for generations to come, ignores the Republicans, goes on a rampage to reverse every good thing President Bush and / or the Republicans ever did and then invites everyone to share a group hug. Kind of hard to hug someone who's slapping and kicking you.
So now Obama is channeling Cheney in regards to wire-tapping according to the Wall Street Journal. Anyone surprised?
You know, if he weren't destroying the country with all his actions, I'd be laughing at the fools who voted for this man. I'd be saying "I told you so." You wanted change? However, while he may not be keeping those campaign promises that drew the crowds, he's making other changes that are bad-news serious. Seems he's managing to alienate people on both sides of the aisle. An equal opportunity destructo machine.
Based on the poll numbers it appears that many are still in la-la land when it comes to seeing the reality of what's going on. Obama is out there campaigning and selling his wares just as successfully it seems. I pray our fellow citizens wake up before his actions take us too far over the brink.

The Obama Administration this week released its predecessor's post-9/11 legal memoranda in the name of "transparency," producing another round of feel-good Bush criticism. Anyone interested in President Obama's actual executive-power policies, however, should look at his position on warrantless wiretapping. Dick Cheney must be smiling.
In a federal lawsuit, the Obama legal team is arguing that judges lack the authority to enforce their own rulings in classified matters of national security. The standoff concerns the Oregon chapter of the Al-Haramain Islamic Foundation, a Saudi Arabian charity that was shut down in 2004 on evidence that it was financing al Qaeda. Al-Haramain sued the Bush Administration in 2005, claiming it had been illegally wiretapped.

Wouldn't it make a bit more sense to say, well, President Bush wouldn't approve it during his administration, and I don't believe in earmarks, so I will veto it unless you strip the earmarks?
I wish every Republican who had an earmark in the Omnibus would stand up and ask to have it dropped from the bill. Wouldn't that say something? It would also take "true grit" and we know that's something many of our Republicans haven't got. Yet.
Kumbaya, love and happiness between the Republicans and Democrats? Sure, Obama said he was a miracle worker. Then he starts pumping out advanced socialism (as opposed to socialism 101), starts printing money like it's not real, raids the kids piggy banks for generations to come, ignores the Republicans, goes on a rampage to reverse every good thing President Bush and / or the Republicans ever did and then invites everyone to share a group hug. Kind of hard to hug someone who's slapping and kicking you.
So now Obama is channeling Cheney in regards to wire-tapping according to the Wall Street Journal. Anyone surprised?
You know, if he weren't destroying the country with all his actions, I'd be laughing at the fools who voted for this man. I'd be saying "I told you so." You wanted change? However, while he may not be keeping those campaign promises that drew the crowds, he's making other changes that are bad-news serious. Seems he's managing to alienate people on both sides of the aisle. An equal opportunity destructo machine.
Based on the poll numbers it appears that many are still in la-la land when it comes to seeing the reality of what's going on. Obama is out there campaigning and selling his wares just as successfully it seems. I pray our fellow citizens wake up before his actions take us too far over the brink.

In a federal lawsuit, the Obama legal team is arguing that judges lack the authority to enforce their own rulings in classified matters of national security. The standoff concerns the Oregon chapter of the Al-Haramain Islamic Foundation, a Saudi Arabian charity that was shut down in 2004 on evidence that it was financing al Qaeda. Al-Haramain sued the Bush Administration in 2005, claiming it had been illegally wiretapped.

He Who Has Earmarks, Let Him Hear
And now, back to our regularly scheduled spending. One week after the shock of the $1.3 trillion stimulus hit home, President Obama and his party are back at it, promoting fiscal responsibility while exercising anything but. Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), fresh from her taxpayer-funded vacation, lifted the veil on a $410 billion omnibus bill that fails to live up to the President's campaign promises of "earmark reform."
"[W]hen I'm president, I will go line by line to make sure that we are not spending money unwisely," he told a crowd in Mississippi last year. Of course, the irony is that Congress introduced a bill with 9,000 earmarks on the same day that the President delivered a speech to economists on spending restraint. "[I]f we want to spend, we'll need to find somewhere to cut," the President suggested Monday, mere days after he signed the biggest spending bill in U.S. history. At the same meeting, Obama vowed to reduce the deficit by half in his first term, which would be a real feat considering that he has already expanded it by roughly a trillion dollars. Got vertigo yet?
Liberals claim the omnibus, now under review in the House, is pork-free. The evidence suggests otherwise. A portion of the $5 billion in earmarks is slated to fund: a "Tattoo Removal Violence Prevention Outreach Program" ($200,000); the creation of a "Ted Kennedy Institute for the Senate" ($5.8 million); the National Council of LaRaza ($473,000); "the promotion of astronomy in Hawaii" ($2 million); and the Las Vegas Natural History Museum ($143,000), where Sen. Harry Reid's son served as a board member.
The flagrant waste, while upsetting, is far less damaging to values voters than the shifts in social policy, which often go undetected in spending bills like this one. Of particular concern to FRC are the diminished pro-life "riders" attached to the legislation. (For a better understanding of the term "rider," check out the FRC Action Blog). Unfortunately, we learned yesterday that the President has reinstated $50 million for the U.N. Population Fund (UNFPA). For the first time in eight years, the U.S. will be knowingly subsidizing forced abortion and sterilization.
The President demanded $545 million ($88 million more than 2008) in contraceptives and other "family planning" activities that do not merit public support. In a major setback for the Community-Based Abstinence Education program, the White House asked for a $13 million reduction in CBAE grants, while increasing its funding for Title X birth control programs to $307 million. Another provision would give college health and abortion clinics the ability to purchase contraception and Plan B at a "nominal" price. (Keep in mind that leaders are proposing this while a network of California Planned Parenthood clinics is under investigation for fraudulently re-selling these same drugs at higher prices for profit.)
On the education front, the bill includes language that would eliminate the D.C. school voucher program and bars new students from participating in the program despite its documented success. In a subtle move, House liberals have also pushed for $1.2 billion in "anti-bullying programs." In the past, these funds have been used to introduce pro-homosexual curricula into the nation's public schools. Last, but by no means least, the report language launches a sneak attack on marriage by encouraging reconsideration of the ban on benefits for same-sex partners of federal employees.
Tonight, despite these assaults on American values, the President will address the nation with the familiar themes of hope, camaraderie, and optimism. But, as we have come to expect in Obama's first month, the rhetoric of this administration falls miserably short of reality.

Contact Your Senators and Urge Them to Reject These Obama Nominees
In the past week, three of President Obama's most objectionable nominees had confirmation hearings in the U.S. Senate. They are:
David Ogden, nominated to the high-ranking post of Deputy Attorney General of the United States . As a private attorney, Ogden worked for the ACLU and filed a brief in the landmark abortion case Planned Parenthood v. Casey that denied the existence of adverse mental health effects of abortion on women. Ogden has also been one of the nation's most prominent porn defense attorneys, representing not only Playboy and Penthouse, but also PHE, Inc., the largest distributor of hardcore pornography in the United States.
Thomas Perrelli is Obama's nominee for Associate Attorney General at the Justice Department. Perrelli won media attention as the attorney for Michael Schiavo, the Florida man who defeated Terri Schiavo's family in their desperate attempt to keep her from being brutally starved and dehydrated to death at Michael's insistence. Terri Schiavo collapsed under mysterious circumstances and was denied rehabilitation after funds won in a court settlement were allegedly diverted by Michael Schiavo for other uses.
Elena Kagan, although well-credentialed as the dean of Harvard Law School, is the Obama choice for Solicitor General, a post so powerful its occupant is often called the "10th Supreme Court justice." Kagan has never argued before the U.S. Supreme Court, but she is most prominently associated with an 8-0 court ruling against her position in Rumsfeld v. FAIR (2006). She and other law school officials sued to overturn the Solomon amendment, adopted by Congress to ensure that law schools could not use homosexual rights rules to deny U.S. Armed Forces recruiters access to law school campuses.
The U.S. Senate will vote soon on these key appointments that will determine U.S. legal policy for years to come. These appointments have a legacy of championing abortion on demand, legalized obscenity, special rights for homosexuals, and euthanasia.

Don't forget the Fairness Doctrine!
While we're all concentrating on trying to stop the stimulus, Obama, Pelosi and team are working on ways to further their other agendas (which all dovetail together nicely, of course). Once again talk radio is a target of the left and they're going to be trying to slide that one through soon. Talk radio is a thorn in their side and as long as conservatives talk show hosts are out there talking, they can't sneak things through (or whitewash the bills sufficiently so we think they're innocuous).
Another one that is winding it's way into law that needs our full attention is the Employee Fair Choice Act. You know, the one that takes choice away from workers and will make the Unions another arm of government? It's a power grab by the Unions and payback from Obama and friends for getting them into office.
Either one of those two will spell "the end" for America the brave and the free.
Health care is another bad one coming down the pike. I don't know if we can stop that one, but I certainly intend to try.
Think about our government running MORE of our lives! Did you hear last night that our government paid something like $30 or $40 billion for AIG assets worth $14 million or billion? My husband walked in and told me about it so I'm getting that second hand. Here's a quote from a CNBC story (sorry, but that's the first one that came up... arrggg, hate to give them any publicity):
My own tale of government intelligence is a doosey, which I'll save for another day. It has to do with taxes.
I used to work for the government, sad to say. I worked for a quasi-government agency that the government enveloped into their fold after I'd been there ten years. Talk about a change in philosophy. I was actually called into the office and chastised because I was working too efficiently and it was making everyone else look bad... I was told not to stay after hours to finish critical projects (even though I was salary and it didn't cost them a penny).
That's the day I decided I'd finally had enough and started working toward starting my own business. That day was also a turning point in my shift from "liberal" to conservative. While I was in my corporate cocoon, I didn't have to think for myself, didn't have to be responsible. I had fun, lived for the day and went with the flow. I didn't spend a whole lot of brain energy thinking about politics, where the country was headed, and the issues of the day.
I'll share more of my story someday, suffice it to say that as you can tell when I pop in here to blog, I'm aware now!
We have something precious in this country and I fear that we are getting ready to lose it. I saw the previous post one of my Barracuda Babe friends posted. It is SCARY. We have to stand up and fight like we've never fought before.
They are going to be adding little bits and pieces into bills that will further their agenda. I don't know what their ultimate goal is, all I can do is look at what is being proposed and guess.
Please, please, please pick up the phone and call. Send an email. Write a letter. If you're like I used to be and your day to day life consumes you, try to carve out 20 minutes a day to skim the Internet and read BOTH sides (if you're inclined to float left). Try to keep an open mind.

The Congressional Oversight Panel report said the Treasury overpaid financial institutions by about $78 billion in its capital injections last year through the Troubled Asset Relief Program. My own tale of government intelligence is a doosey, which I'll save for another day. It has to do with taxes.
I used to work for the government, sad to say. I worked for a quasi-government agency that the government enveloped into their fold after I'd been there ten years. Talk about a change in philosophy. I was actually called into the office and chastised because I was working too efficiently and it was making everyone else look bad... I was told not to stay after hours to finish critical projects (even though I was salary and it didn't cost them a penny).
That's the day I decided I'd finally had enough and started working toward starting my own business. That day was also a turning point in my shift from "liberal" to conservative. While I was in my corporate cocoon, I didn't have to think for myself, didn't have to be responsible. I had fun, lived for the day and went with the flow. I didn't spend a whole lot of brain energy thinking about politics, where the country was headed, and the issues of the day.
I'll share more of my story someday, suffice it to say that as you can tell when I pop in here to blog, I'm aware now!
We have something precious in this country and I fear that we are getting ready to lose it. I saw the previous post one of my Barracuda Babe friends posted. It is SCARY. We have to stand up and fight like we've never fought before.
They are going to be adding little bits and pieces into bills that will further their agenda. I don't know what their ultimate goal is, all I can do is look at what is being proposed and guess.
Please, please, please pick up the phone and call. Send an email. Write a letter. If you're like I used to be and your day to day life consumes you, try to carve out 20 minutes a day to skim the Internet and read BOTH sides (if you're inclined to float left). Try to keep an open mind.

Have you ever heard of an economy in crisis being saved by the circulation of funds being poured into GRANT MONEY?!
2. As reported on FOX news briefly, the presumed organizer of this self-destructive volume of insanity, is Rep. David Obey of Wisconsin, whose own son stands to gain millions in government investment if this measure passes. But THAT is only a drop in the bucket of pork barrel spending included in HR-1. But here is what's worse: The purpose of the bill's high volume of self-serving sub-clauses (each adding MILLIONS OF DOLLARS MORE in non-economic emergency expenditures) is for one end: to BUY THE VOTE of every Congressman required for HR-1 passage! This Obama strategy for bribing public officials is nothing new. He has used it successfully - with Axelrod's help - throughout his rapid-fire rise to power. Here is the REAL REASON for buying up Congressional votes at this critical time:
3. HR-1 is ONLY THE FIRST in a package of TEN BILLS preparing to be launched in our Congress. Together they represent the obliteration of the American way of life as we have known it. As the public knows T.A.R.P. BILLIONS came first - and is already being shown NOT TO IMPROVE THE ECONOMY. They are claiming that's because it's just "not enough." Any logical criticism of HR-1 is now also being brushed aside on the basis "We know it's not perfect but we need to do something FAST."
4. Each of these TEN PIECES OF DESTRUCTIVE and COSTLY LEGISLATION has a politically correct sounding Title. Together these form a body of nearly-irreversible SOCIALISM and their underlying intention is clear: Flood so much currency and power into the hands of Obama's supporters that the influence of his backers becomes an unstoppable political machine pursuing its own agenda - and its agenda does NOT serve We the People it is supposed to represent!
5. This currently unreported package of TEN BILLS are under the vast umbrella of the "Obama Economic Recovery Plan." The strategy is simple, really: to manipulate the emotions of the American public and orchestrate the purse strings of Congress - all FALSELY DISGUISED as necessary to improve our current plight. Notice how the Media has stopped talking about the "bail-out" and is now using the term "Stimulus Plan." When the next bill package comes up for a rapid-fire slam-dunk, they'll just call that one by a different name and so on and so on.
6. Which brings us to the most critical question: WHO IS REALLY WRITING ALL THIS LEGISLATION that will affect our families for generations to come? On January 7, 2008: The 10 Bill Package of "Obama Economic Recovery Plan" was introduced in the House of Representatives. On January 14, 2008 each of these Bills was no more than a few paragraphs in length - with appealing Titles followed by a few vague sentences. That's all there was! Yet, before January ended the OPENING PIECE OF LEGISLATION - HR1 mushroomed to 647 pages long! Ask yourself: How could Congress possibly have written much material on so many sweeping topics in just a few weeks? Then go on to the bigger question: Who in our House of Representatives actually read every page in this bill - and studied the use of the BILLIONS of Dollars being handed out throughout these pages? IT IS OBVIOUS THE HOUSE PASSED THIS BILL ONTO THE SENATE WITHOUT ACTUALLY READING IT - and quite possibly NOT having authored it in Congress itself!!!
HERE IS A BREAKDOWN OF WHAT YOU MOST NEED TO KNOW ABOUT HR1 before it becomes the LAW OF THE LAND:
Despite Obama's statement that "less than 1%" of this bill includes costs unrelated to economic urgency, MOST HR-1 CONTENTS HAVE NOTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH RESOLVING THE ECONOMIC CRISES. Everyone willing to Vote It In is earmarked to get a piece of the pie for their own special interests.
These billions in pay-offs- built into HR! - are covering up subcategories within the legislation designed exclusively for Obama's self serving political ends- individually and collectively they threaten our usual rights as citizens in a free Republic. These include:
- Massive funding of ACORN, despite the fact that the organization is under indictment in at least 12 states!
- Additional funding for another Obama campaigning arm - under the guise of support for the Analog to Digital conversion
- A huge volume of surreptitious GRANT funding to be distributed for questionable purposes of an extended period of time.
- Enormous bundled funding for "technology advances" (to improve outreach of propaganda and invasions of privacy.)
- Unbelievable extravagances in the upgrades of federal buildings and vehicles completely contradictory to our emergency status.
LAST, BUT FAR FROM LEAST: over ALMOST TWO HUNDRED PAGES of new Laws & Government Expenditures to NATIONALIZE the records of all Health Care providers into ONE DATA BASE which requires every American's Health Records be accessible to ANY who have access to said DATA BASE.
