What's the rush on the health care bill?

I've been pondering this one for weeks, reading articles, listening to pundits, talking with friends. There are as many opinions as there are pundits.

At first, the rush would have been, in my opinion, to keep the American people in the dark. The idea being to get it through before we all woke up.

Didn't happen. We're awake and roaring.

Then the rush became one to get it through before the tide turned completely. The more information that leaked out or made it past the media barrier they've erected, the unhappier the public would become.

Another reason to push is to get it done so they can move on and tackle other things looming on the horizon while they still have a majority in Congress. Card check. Global warming (now climate change since they can't adequately explain the cold weather and temperature decreases). All the rest of the mess Obama is trying to push down America's collective throat.

Obama has a lot to finish up before the 2010 elections. Maybe he feels it's now or never. But then again, he must know, or worry, that if he pushes all his mess through before November 2010, quite possibly the elections will bring a veto-proof majority from the "other side" into Congress. If that happens he has risked a lot given they'll hopefully reverse many, if not most, of his radical changes and he'll have a Congress who won't jump when he says jump.

Which brings me back to wondering why Obama and his crew are willing to risk losing Congress in 2010 just to push through some or all of his agenda. They must have something in the wings they think will protect them in the 2010 elections.

That is the only logical reason I can see for alienating and rousing the sleeping majority.

As said, I believe the end result of success in getting those Obama policies and bills through, the ones we KNOW about at least, is quite assuredly that Obama and the Democrats will lose their stranglehold on Congress in 2010.

Or do they think that once we have health care ala Obama that we'll love it by 2010? or that we'll go back to sleep? What are they banking on? I just can't believe that the Democrats are dumb enough to risk their elected office to get Obama's agenda through.

Maybe Obama is counting on the fact that if he can push more people over to dependency on government by the time the 2010 elections roll around they'll vote to keep those who're giving out the handouts in office. It would be a diabolical plot wouldn't it?

The Cloward-Piven strategy per an article in World Net Daily:

David Horowitz, a long-time student of leftist political movements in the United States, characterized the Cloward-Piven strategy as seeking "to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse."

Cloward and Piven argued a "guaranteed annual income" should be established as an entitlement for the poor, a right the poor could assert and demand to be paid.

Arguing for massive registration of poor in existing social welfare programs, Cloward and Piven sought to create a crisis that could be exploited to obtain a fundamental redistribution of power in favor of the "have-nots."

Advancing their socialist revolutionary aims, Cloward and Piven explained the crisis they sought "can occur spontaneously (e.g., riots) or as the intended result of tactics of demonstration and protest which either generate institutional disruption or bring unrecognized disruption to public attention."

The Cloward-Piven strategy sought to apply the tactics of the revolutionary civil rights movement, including urban riots, to the poor as a whole, transcending interest-group politics defined by race to involve interest-group politics defined by class.

So, maybe what we're living through is the culmination of a long-term plot as many are saying...

Maybe Obama believes that the financial crisis combined with the Democratic majority combined with his Presidency is a divine mandate to enact his very radical agenda.

Maybe he truly believes that if he can get all this through, the upheaval, turmoil and destruction of the values and precepts in the Constitution will result in a better America, a better world.

Maybe he believes that once we get through it we'll embrace his new world.

Then again, maybe he doesn't care whether we do or not. After all, he'll be part of the new elite and won't have to deal with whatever pain you and I, the "worker class" have to endure.

No matter what he believes about where we're heading under his 'leadership', he still has to get through the 2010 elections. Which brings me back to the thought that he must have something up his sleeve for next year. Although I mentioned

In the back of my mind I'm wondering what's going on with Obama's promise to put an army of civilians to work in the country. You remember this one:



July 2, Colorado Springs: "We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

The government "ACORN"? The secret weapon in the 2010 election?

ACORN, the biggest Obama getting vote thief, is running for cover at the moment. It's a victory of sorts, but the people who make up ACORN aren't going away. They'll just find new organizations and new hidey-holes. The demise or diminishing of ACORN may actually have the reverse effect of energizing some of the Left's minions. Maybe they'll sign up for the new Obama civilian army... or he'll put them in charge of it.

Something is going on. When I look at all the pieces of the Obama agenda and start to try and make it into a cohesive completed puzzle, I still haven't quite figured out what it's going to look like. The pieces that are still missing for me are the "hows" of getting through the 2010 elections.

Maybe he doesn't think we'll be able to act in concert to 'kick the bums out' in 2010. Maybe he underestimates the numbers. Maybe he's forgetting that for every Tea Party protester, there are 20, 50, 500 or more sitting at home watching, believing, encouraging and waiting to show their ire at the ballot box.

I have never been so proud of our America as I was when I saw the numbers marching in Washington on September 12th and then got reports from across the country of similar efforts going on in small and large towns. We're out here. We're out there. Hopefully we'll still have the right to vote in a free and honest election in 2010. If we do, change is going to happen. Real change. The right kind of change.

The Republicans who voted for Geithner

I'm going to "assume" that the ten Republicans who voted to approve tax-cheat Geithner made a stand on some kind of principle. I can't imagine which principle would trump ethics, common sense, character and ability to lead with pride, but that's just li'l ol me way down here in voter land.

Those four voted against Geithner.

The vote was 60 - 34. One of our Republicans missed the vote but would have voted no. If the Republicans had all voted no it wouldn't have changed the vote. Assuming that the one Republican and three Democrats who didn't vote still didn't vote, it would have been 44 nays against 50 yippie-yi-yays.

But you know, I'd have just felt better about our Republican caucus.

We need to watch carefully to see who's voting for what in these next few days and months. Let's get some people in there with backbone and principles.

Re: Press shut down

"A Right Wing Conservative" asked what Obama would do to us on the blogosphere... I've already been wondering how long we'll have the luxury of using Blogger since the owner of Blogger is Google and the owner of Google is a staunch Obama supporter.

I know I get a bit paranoid at times with all this (at least I HOPE I'm being a bit paranoid), but when you see Obama in action and hear what he's telling us he's going to do, one has to worry about freedom of speech (among other things).

A lot of Dems / Liberals have been pushing the so-called "Fairness" Doctrine already. Bet that's one that comes up fairly quickly if we have Dems in control of all government bodies.

How long will it be before dissent or disagreement with Obama's policies becomes a national security risk and we all have to zip our mouths and quell our nimble fingers from typing on our keyboards?

"Lipstick Republican" pointed out something I missed --- "The shutdown began last week with the Obama campaign refusal to honor an interview appointment after Biden was asked something other than the usual softball questions. No major outcry over that, so this week they're going a little further. Which reporter gets muzzled next?"

We all know they're now "Hidin' Biden" to keep him from making any gaffes. I did see him today giving a scripted talk. I heard that Obama hasn't given an press availabilities for over a month, except the last time Biden gaffed and he was forced to talk candidly to the press.

I think the press is being patently stupid, no make that REALLY STUPID, by supporting someone who's going to turn on them before it's all said and done.

Since I started writing speeches more than ten years ago, I have always believed in the Democratic Party. Not anymore. Not after the election of 2008. This transformation has been swift and complete and since I’m a woman writing in the election of 2008, “very emotional.”

... This is what the Democratic Party has been for me; it’s family. Now, it doesn’t even feel like a distant cousin.

This drift started on a personal level with the fall of former Senator John Edwards. It got stronger during the Democratic National Convention when I counted the substantive mentions of poverty on one hand and a whole bunch of bad canned partisan lines against Senator John McCain. Some faith was lifted after Senator Hillary Clinton’s grace during a difficult hour. But that faith was dashed when I saw that someone had raided the Caligula set and planted the old columns at Invesco Field.

The final straw came the other week when Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher (a.k.a Joe the Plumber) asked a question about higher taxes for small businesses. Instead of celebrating his aspirations, they were mocked. He wasn’t “a real plumber,” and “They’re fighting for Joe the Hedge-Fund manager,” and the patronizing, “I’ve got nothing but love for Joe the Plumber.”

Having worked in politics, I know that absolutely none of this is on the level. This back and forth is posturing, a charade, and a political game. These lines are what I refer to as “hooker lines”—a sure thing to get applause and the press to scribble as if they’re reporting meaningful news.

As the nation slouches toward disaster, the level of political discourse is unworthy of this moment in history. We have Republicans raising Ayers and Democrats fostering ageism with “erratic” and jokes about Depends. Sexism. Racism. Ageism and maybe some Socialism have all made their ugly cameos in election 2008. It’s not inspiring. Perhaps this is why I found the initial mocking of Joe so offensive and I realized an old line applied: “I didn’t leave the Democratic Party; the Democratic Party left me.”

The party I believed in wouldn’t look down on working people under any circumstance. And Joe the Plumber is right. This is the absolutely worst time to raise taxes on anyone: the rich, the middle class, the poor, small businesses and corporations.

...That’s not exactly the philosophy of a Democrat. Not only has this party belittled working people in this campaign from Joe the Plumber to the bitter comments, it has also been part of tearing down two female candidates. At first, certain Democrats and the press called Senator Clinton “dishonest.” They went after her cleavage. They said her experience as First Lady consisted of having tea parties. There was no outrage over “Bros before Hoes” or “Iron My Shirt.” Did Senator Clinton make mistakes? Of course. She’s human.

But here we are about a week out and it’s déjà vu all over again. Really, front-page news is how the Republican National Committee paid for Governor Sarah Palin’s wardrobe? Where’s the op-ed about how Obama tucks in his shirt when he plays basketball or how Senator Biden buttons the top button on his golf shirt?

Oh right, this story goes to the sincerity of her Hockey Mom persona. What planet am I living on? Everyone knows that when it comes to appearance, there’s a double standard for women politicians. Remember the speech Speaker Pelosi gave on the floor the day of the bailout vote? Check out how many stories commented on her hair that day and how many mentioned Congressman Barney Frank’s.

Here we are discussing Governor Palin’s clothes—oh wait, now we’re on to the make-up—not what either man is going to do to save our economy. This isn’t an accident. It is part of a manufactured narrative that she is stupid.

Governor Palin and I don’t agree on a lot of things, mostly social issues. But I have grown to appreciate the Governor. I was one of those initial skeptics and would laugh at the pictures. Not anymore. When someone takes on a corrupt political machine and a sitting governor, that is not done by someone with a low I.Q. or a moral core made of tissue paper. When someone fights her way to get scholarships and work her way through college even in a jagged line, that shows determination and humility you can’t learn from reading Reinhold Niebuhr. When a mother brings her son with special needs onto the national stage with love, honesty, and pride, that gives hope to families like mine as my older brother lives with a mental disability. And when someone can sit on a stage during the Sarah Palin rap on Saturday Night Live, put her hands in the air and watch someone in a moose costume get shot—that’s a sign of both humor and humanity.

Has she made mistakes? Of course, she’s human too. But the attention paid to her mistakes has been unprecedented compared to Senator Obama’s “57 states” remarks or Senator Biden using a version of the Samuel Johnson quote, “There’s nothing like a hanging in the morning to focus a man’s thoughts.”

....I can no longer justify what this party has done and can’t dismiss the treatment of women and working people as just part of the new kind of politics. It’s wrong and someone has to say that. And also say that the Democratic Party’s talking points—that Senator John McCain is just four more years of the same and that he’s President Bush—are now just hooker lines that fit a very effective and perhaps wave-winning political argument…doesn’t mean they’re true. After all, he is the only one who’s worked in a bipartisan way on big challenges.

Before I cast my vote, I will correct my party affiliation and change it to No Party or Independent. Then, in the spirit of election 2008, I’ll get a manicure, pedicure, and my hair done. Might as well look pretty when I am unemployed in a city swimming with “D’s.”...

It's difficult not to froth when one reads, as I did again and again this week, doubts about Sarah Palin's "intelligence," coming especially from women such as PBS's Bonnie Erbe, who, as near as I recall, has not herself heretofore been burdened with the Susan Sontag of Journalism moniker. As Fred Barnes---God help me, I'm agreeing with Fred Barnes---suggests in the Weekly Standard, these high toned and authoritative dismissals come from people who have never met or spoken with Sarah Palin. Those who know her, love her or hate her, offer no such criticism. They know what I know, and I learned it from spending just a little time traveling on the cramped campaign plane this week: Sarah Palin is very smart.

I'm a Democrat, but I've worked as a consultant with the McCain campaign since shortly after Palin's nomination. Last week, there was the thought that as a former editor-in-chief of Ms. magazine as well as a feminist activist in my pre-journalism days, I might be helpful in contributing to a speech that Palin had long wanted to give on women's rights.

What is often called her "confidence" is actually a rarity in national politics: I saw a woman who knows exactly who she is.

Now by "smart," I don't refer to a person who is wily or calculating or nimble in the way of certain talented athletes who we admire but suspect don't really have serious brains in their skulls. I mean, instead, a mind that is thoughtful, curious, with a discernable pattern of associative thinking and insight. Palin asks questions, and probes linkages and logic that bring to mind a quirky law professor I once had. Palin is more than a "quick study"; I'd heard rumors around the campaign of her photographic memory and, frankly, I watched it in action. She sees. She processes. She questions, and only then, she acts. What is often called her "confidence" is actually a rarity in national politics: I saw a woman who knows exactly who she is.

For all those old enough to remember Senator Sam Ervin, the brilliant strict constitutional constructionist and chairman of the Senate Watergate Committee whose patois included "I'm just a country lawyer"...Yup, Palin is that smart.

So no simple task then, this speech on women's rights. For the sin of being a Christian personally opposed to abortion, Palin is being pilloried by the inside-the-Beltway Democrat feminist establishment. (Yes, she is anti-abortion. And yes, instead of buying organic New Zealand lamb at Whole Foods, she joins other Alaskans in hunting for food. That's it. She is not a right-wing nut, and all the rest of the Internet drivel---the book banning at the Library, the rape kits decision---is nonsense. I digress.) Palin's role in this campaign was to energize "the Republican base," which she has inarguably done. She also was expected to reach out to Hillary Clinton "moderates." (Right. Only a woman would get both those jobs in either party.) Look, I am obviously personally pro-choice, and I disagree with McCain and Palin on that and a few other issues. But like many other Democrats, including Lynn Rothschild, I'm tired of the Democratic Party taking women fo r granted. I also happen to believe Sarah Palin supports women's rights, deeply and passionately.

Many of those---not all---who decried the sexist media treatment of Hillary Clinton have been silent as Palin has been skewered in the old ways that female public figures are skewered, as well as a host of sexualized new ways as well. Some feminists have weighed in; "Even the reportedly clear glasses she wears to play down her beauty queen credential and enhance her gravitas can't make up for experience," writes my heroine Suzanne Braun Levine, former editor of Ms. Oppose her on policy? Fine. But how sad for feminist leaders to sink this low, especially when Palin has worn glasses since she was 10 years old.

Last month a prominent feminist blogger, echoing that sensibility, declared that the media was wrongly buying into the false idea that Palin was a feminist. Why? Well, just because she said she was a feminist, because she supported women's rights and opportunities, equal pay, Title IV---that was just "empty rhetoric," they said. At least the blogger didn't go as far as NOW's Kim Gandy and declare that Palin was not a woman. Bottom line: you are not a feminist until we say you are. And there you have the formula for diminishing what was once a great and important mass social change movement to an exclusionary club that rejects women who sincerely want to join and, God forbid, grow to lead.

But here is the good news: women, citizens of America's high and low culture, the Economist and People magazine readers, will get it. They got it with Hillary even when feminist leaders were not supporting her or doing so half-heartedly. Yes, Palin is a harder sell, she looks and sounds different, and one can rightfully oppose her based on abortion policies. If you only vote on how a person personally feels about abortion, you will never want her to darken your door. If you care about anything else, she will continue to intrigue you. As Time's Nancy Gibbs noted a few weeks ago, quoting bioethicist Tom Murray, "Sympathy and subtlety are seasonings rarely applied to political red meat." Will Palin's time come next week? I don't know. But her time will come.

McCain-Palin - I can't wait to see them in the White House!

Isn't it going to be great in January when John McCain and Sarah Palin move into the White House? I can't wait for the changes we're going to see!

I know everyone keeps dumping on how minute the earmarks are, but to me they're a big thing. It speaks to the mindset of those we've elected, their ego, their need for power, their need to stay elected and their lack of concern for our hard-earned tax dollars.

I saw a thing today from the Wall Street Journal comparing the tax plans of Barack Obama and John McCain. It spelled out very clearly how much better McCain's plan will be for all, not just the few.

I'm in the process of re-reading Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. I highly recommend it to everyone. I don't agree with everything she puts forth, but I think it is a timely read given what we're hearing from the Obama campaign.

I am hearing more and more enthusiasm for our ticket! Today while scanning through blogs and email messages I saw the news about the W.A.M. '08 group (http://www.wam08.org/ I think). This is a group of thousands and thousands and thousands of Independent, Democrat and Republican groups and individuals working together to get McCain-Palin elected.

Then I received an update from http://www.teamsarah.org/ and saw the huge increases in numbers overnight! It jumped 10,000 in just one day! Impressive don't you think?

And then I saw the post by one of my fellow bloggers about the http://www.catholicvote.org/ (or .com?) group that is over a million strong. Pro-LIFE, which should mean pro-McCain-Palin.

There are many, many people who are working hard, doing things that aren't making it into the mainstream media. We can do this friends, we can and will win on Nov. 4th! Start thinking about all the great things the future holds for us with Sarah Palin out there working to make us oil independent! She's going to be a superb advocate for our special needs children, too.

Palin and McCain are going to be able to make great strides in Washington to clean up the rabble. I think they'll probably be fighting a Democrat Congress, but in two years if we keep working we can hand them enough votes to work miracles during the last two years of this term.

I noted that Priests for Life (Catholic group) is asking members to pray every night for the right choice on Nov. 4th (or something like that). I think all Christians and those of any praying faith should be joining them in sending up prayers for wisdom for voters.

Loved the slogan I heard shouted out today at a Palin rally: Use your brain, vote McCain! Catchy.

The site is a little difficult to maneuver around and figure out where you're going next (and then get back to a page using links once you're a few pages beyond) but it is chocked full of good info and I love the idea, the direction and enthusiasm.

Outraged in Georgia

I was out in the studio glazing some pottery and decided to listen to talk radio for a change since it was rote work, not really creative and I needed something to occupy my mind.

Usually WSB 750 AM radio (Atlanta area) is conservative talk. Sean Hannity, Neal Boortz and others fill the airspace with a wide range of views but generally all in the conservative bent.

Not this afternoon. They had a guy, Mark Arum, who usually does the traffic hosting an afternoon show. I've picked it up before and he usually does light fare and stays away from politics.

I found out why he stays away from politics today.

He's really out in the ozone.

I didn't mind that he was an Independent and was curious to see how the program would flow once I heard the topic. He set up the scenario that he was an undecided voter who wanted the public to convince him to vote for their ticket.

I thought it would be fun to listen to the varying views and arguments.

However, it became patently clear that he had made up his mind on Sarah Palin. He did nothing but mouth the left's talking points. Almost verbatim. He spoke highly of John McCain but questioned his judgement for picking someone who wasn't qualified to be President, who didn't know which newspapers she read (if any), who had no experience... you all know the drill.

When he told a caller (who asked) that yes Todd Palin was part of a separatist movement but hey, they were up in Alaska and that was a different breed (or something along those lines) and that no telling what would happen once they got the pipeline set up, I decided I'd about had it with this guy. Whacko.

BUT, BUT, then he went WAY over the top. When he made the comment that Sarah had four children that we KNEW were hers... I popped the radio off.

He twisted whatever anyone said to make them sound like imbeciles. He admitted he was an elitist who thought that while there's nothing wrong with the actual colleges Sarah chose, it proved she wasn't smart enough. He said it differently, but he said it often. He was looking down his nose at her education as if that was the be-all, end-all for qualifying to be VP.

The guy is fooling himself if he thinks he's Independent. Either that or he's only listening to one side, isn't intelligent enough to do any research and obviously easily buys into the rumor mill.

It's a free world and we have free speech so I'm not going to get all riled about the station picking this dumb bunny to host a talk show in a generally dead time slot. However, I'll be exercising my freedoms and will listening to a CD on Saturday afternoons in the future.

An uh-duh moment on the Dems and Sarah Palin

I'm sure wiser minds than mine have already thought and discussed this, but all of sudden this evening it hit me. The Democrats understand that the Republicans stand a good chance of beating them when it comes to putting the first woman in as President (not just Vice President).

They dumped their best bet for first female President, Hillary Clinton.

Then they ignored her as a Vice Presidential candidate.

Now we have a fantastic woman running for Vice President who, if elected, has an excellent chance of being the first female President somewhere down the road. I'd venture to say she stands a good chance of being President even if (God forbid) we don't win in November.

The Democrats are green with envy. They are supposed to have the "firsts" when it comes to women and minorities as they see it, even though the factual records don't support the contention that they actually promote equality in any category be it gender or race.

We have a good looking, articulate, intelligent (brilliant), personable woman who lives what they supposedly espouse and they can't stand it.

They wouldn't like her simply because she's a Republican, no matter what else she believed. However, the fact that she is going to beat them to that "first" is scaring them half to death. The fact that so many of us think she is fantastic and so many women are rallying to her side is curling their toes in envy, is ripping them a new one and driving them nuts. Especially since no matter what they do, no matter what they try, she just keeps gaining support.

Until tonight I hadn't thought about the long-term Presidential "first" aspect of having Sarah in the race, although I fully expected her to be President someday. I hadn't considered how crazy it must be making the Democrats and how it has tossed their plans into disarray! They felt they could get away with Barack Obama on the ticket with anyone, they figured Democratic women would fall in line and vote Democratic. They were wrong. Women are TIRED of being taken for granted and whether we believe exactly the same way Sarah does on every issue is beside the point. We identify with her independence and willingness to forge her own path.

I can't end without again saying thanks to John McCain for having the good judgement to pick Sarah Palin! He did it his way and his way was the right way!

Worse than disgraceful!

I heard about this in passing but so far it hasn't been anything the media is willing to mention (surprise, surprise). It is disgraceful and shows Barack Obama's true nature. Unfortunately, this is just one more thing that most will not hear about given the media code of silence when it comes to Barack Obama's many, many flaws.

Figured someone might be interested in Google's picks

A few of us in the Read My Lipstick Network have set up Google alerts on Sarah Palin's name. I get a daily list of all the stories Google thinks are important that include Sarah Palin's name for any reason. It's blogs and news stories. It's a real good indicator of the "mentality' of Google's search algorithms. I thought I'd start sharing these just so you can see how rare it is that a positive blog about Sarah Palin gets picked up by Google. There are hundreds and hundreds of positive blogs being penned every day about her and to date I have maybe seen one positive included in the list. I know some of my Lipstick sisters have already written about this and I may have mentioned it myself at some point in a prior blog, so I won't say more, but just know I'm in agreement. I'm not sure if it's wise to be dissing Google given I'm using one of their free services (blogger) so I type with trepidation. I noted that a couple of anti-Obama blog titles had been banned from blogger and am not sure of the reason!

I'm searching the blogs and Internet for the Democrat

I'm dying of curiosity so I've been out searching for who it might be. My husband speculated that it might be Geraldine Ferraro. She has been fairly supportive of Sarah Palin and said at one point she wasn't sure who she was voting for or that she was considering who to vote for or something like that. Later she said she was voting for Obama so I can't see her switching.

Who could it be? Any ideas?

Tomorrow a prominent Hillary Clinton supporter (a member of the Democratic National Committee's Platform Committee!) is going to endorse McCain-Palin! I haven't a clue who it is, but this is a trend that I hope to see continue.

The polls are awesome right now.

Barack Obama is struggling and it shows. Take away his tele-prompter, unplug the thing, see if he can do what Sarah Palin did on her first big night at the Republican Convention! I was awed at her performance, especially knowing the prompter messed up. I can't imagine standing in front of all those people and managing to string a coherent sentence together with a tele-prompter.

Barack Obama's claim to fame is being able to give a great speech (so they say) when reading from a tele-prompter.

Did any of you see the bit where he said everyone in the United States would get a tax cut? Not just the 95% he's been saying would get a tax cut? What is the percentage of people who don't pay any tax at all? Something like 40% if I remember correctly. Does that mean people who don't pay taxes are going to get a check, too? It's not a tax cut from what I've heard discussed, it's a rebate check. Which to my way of thinking is simply another welfare program, except it goes to everyone regardless of need (unless you're in the "wealthy" 5% and you have to pay the tab for the rest of the country!).

Remember Ayn Rand's book Atlas Shrugged? It's a must-read.

Can't wait to see who's jumping aboard from the Dems tomorrow! You know they wouldn't let the Democrat woman who made the commercial for McCain into the Democratic Convention even though she was an official delegate? I had mixed feelings about that one. I imagine the Republicans would do the same thing if the situation were reversed. I'm sure glad she's supporting John McCain though. I wonder if she has a blog?

Just wrote a bit about the financial markets and the Obama stance, checked my inbox and there's an email from John McCain on the same subject. Haven't read it yet, just going to share:

The economy problems were caused by George Bush... and John McCain

Sure.

I can't believe anyone is dumb enough to believe that.

But they are.

I was just listening to a reporter who's embedded with Barack Obama's campaign share that PRIVATELY the Obama people admit that George Bush and the Republicans didn't cause the problem, that it is a non-political issue, non-party issue. But still they play the blame game so they can dupe the dummies who haven't got a clue how things work and who're looking for a Messiah to save their bacon.

I get so tired of politics sometimes. I'd say it would be really refreshing to have someone just tell it like it is, but they'd never get past first base so we'd never know they were doing so. I know in local politics around my county a politician who speaks straight doesn't last long! People want to have someone to blame and they want someone to tell them it's going to be OK.

Sarah Palin and John McCain are about the two best I've seen yet when it comes to 'straight talk' as McCain tags his way of shooting from the hip. Sarah Palin has gotten where she is partially because she is a straight shooter (in more ways than one!). However, I'm noticing that the handlers are starting to have an affect on her. I hope she'll continue to stick to her guns and not let those guys ruin her. What is SO refreshing about Palin is her lack of Washington, her freshness and honesty. Well, there's a lot of things that are refreshing about Sarah!

Heard today Obama is going to stop trashing so much and start offering solutions. Bet they'll involved MORE government, MORE big brother. I think one of the reasons we have this problem is the government stuck their hands into business and the free market a bit more than they should. From what I understand, those crappy mortgages happened in large part due to the government breathing down their necks about not giving enough low-income loans. I said 'partially' because that's not the only reason. Human nature abhors the potential to ignore easy money, thus greed factored into the equation, too.

Who knows what the right balance between government regulations and free market should be? To me it's clear Obama goes way over the top and if he had his way he'd turn this country into a Socialist one if possible. The Libertarians may have the right idea, but they go a bit too far in a different direction. Not saying the Republicans are always right, but I can live with self-responsibility and less government a whole lot easier than the Democratic version of government and censorship.
