House GOP Leaders Call for Democrats to Post Massive Omnibus Spending Bill Online
To our Senate Republicans: Filibuster time guys. Use the fact that it's not open and transparent to the public as a rallying call to hold off on the thing until it's posted online! Stand on your conservative principles.
House GOP Leaders Call for Democrats to Post Massive Omnibus Spending Bill Online
In a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD), House Republican leaders yesterday formally asked that the massive FY 2009 omnibus spending bill be posted online immediately. Posting the massive bill online would allow the American people to study the contents of the bill between now and the week after President’s Day, when the $500 billion legislation is scheduled to be brought to a vote, and would be consistent with President Obama’s call for greater transparency in government, Republican leaders noted.

Nationalization of banks around the corner?
“Well, whatever you want to call it,” said Pelosi. “If we are strengthening them [banks], then the American people should get some of the upside of that strengthening. Some people call that nationalization."
Today I received the following article link in my daily round up of news that I torture myself with each morning:
Nationalization Gets a New, Serious Look
Only five days into the Obama presidency, members of the new administration and Democratic leaders in Congress are already dancing around one of the most politically delicate questions about the financial bailout: Is the president prepared to nationalize a huge swath of the nation’s banking system?
Privately, most members of the Obama economic team concede that the rapid deterioration of the country’s biggest banks, notably Bank of America and Citigroup, is bound to require far larger investments of taxpayer money, atop the more than $300 billion of taxpayer money already poured into those two financial institutions and hundreds of others, The New York Times’s David E. Sanger reports.
http://dealbook.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/01/26/nationalization-gets-a-new-serious-look/
At first read, surprisingly for a New York Times article, it seemed fairly balanced. However, as I re-read it I came away with the feeling that the author was laying the groundwork, i.e., Obama really doesn't want to nationalize the banks, but the situation is worse than he thought so he'll be forced to take this drastic step.
“I would guess that sometime in the next few weeks, President Obama and Tim Geithner,” he said, referring to the nominee for Treasury secretary, “will have to come out and say, ‘It’s much worse than we thought,’ and just bite the bullet.”
There is a suggestion that IF Obama does go down the nationalization path it may only be for a few banks and that it may only be for a short time.
The argument in favor of nationalization, even a brief nationalization of a
few months or years, is straightforward: It might be the only way to pull
America’s largest financial institutions out of the downward spiral that makes
it enormously difficult to raise the capital they need to keep operating.
It's that old slippery slope. Look at history. Once government gets involved their tentacles tighten, they don't release their prey. Using another, hopefully less plausible, comparison dictators and the like often start out as saviors. They make this little change here, that change there and the next thing the citizens of their country realize, the dictator's new government has a stranglehold on everything.
The article did present a lot of good arguments as to why the Obama administration might be trying to steer clear of going the nationalization route. It seemed to me though, that the arguments were just included so we'd understand that it must be really, really bad if Obama is forced to make the horrible decision to nationalize banks given all the negatives. It set the stage for the masses to applaud Obama and friends for being forced to do this for the good of the country -- if it occurs.
In another article from Bloomberg (see link below) the author again seemed to be trying to state both sides of the issue while setting the stage for the inevitability of nationalization:
William K. Black, former lawyer at the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco and Office of Thrift Supervision, said the Treasury could do better by assuming control of the companies and removing existing management altogether. By trying to avoid nationalizing the institutions, the government is wasting money, he said.
"It's insane to leave it in the control of the people who have every incentive to cover up the scale of the losses," said Black, a professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. "You're deliberately negotiating a bad deal for the American people by not getting an appropriate return for the risk you're taking."and...
"If you took a nationalization policy, you would at least create some degree of certainty because now you know the government is going to stand behind these institutions," said Jacques, 49, who was an economist with the Treasury
Department for 14 years before becoming a finance professor at Baldwin-Wallace
College in Berea, Ohio.
And now? "It's almost like some kind of weird partial nationalization," he said.
So am I just over-sensitive to the potential subtleties in these articles? Is the media partnering with Obama in the softening of the American mind? Is nationalization of banks around the corner? Is the current economic downturn going to lead to the country embracing a change in our fundamental beliefs with open arms?
I guess we'll find out in one of our tomorrows.
Treasury's demands on banks seen as nationalization
(Bloomberg News Feed)
WASHINGTON — The U.S. government's decision to pledge billions of additional dollars with strings attached to Citigroup Inc. and Bank of America Corp. may be nationalization by another name, according to former bankers and regulators.
Faced with pressure from lawmakers, banks have shaken up management, eliminated executive bonuses and staff and canceled conventions. They'll be forced to do monthly reports on how they've boosted lending while slashing quarterly dividends to 1 cent a share for three years.

Mr. Hope and Change Becomes President Doom and Gloom
Barack Obama campaigned for almost two years on the mantra of hope and change. The campaigns cheer leading motto was "Yes We Can". Who would have thought that this campaign full of hope and promise would then become the administration of doom and gloom and "No, We Can't"

Sarah Palin and Margaret Thatcher
Conservative Snobs Are Wrong About Palin
I know Maggie Thatcher. The two women have a lot in common.

Being listed in fourth place for Time magazine's "Person of the Year," as Sarah Palin was for 2008, sounds a little like being awarded the Order of Purity (Fourth Class). But it testifies to something important.
Though regularly pronounced sick, dying, dead, cremated and scattered at sea, Mrs. Palin is still amazingly around. She has survived more media assassination attempts than Fidel Castro has survived real ones (Cuban official figure: 638). In her case, one particular method of assassination is especially popular -- namely, the desperate assertion that, in addition to her other handicaps, she is "no Margaret Thatcher."

Google, Blogger and Censorship
I immediately went and switched my default search from Google to Yahoo. I'm not sure that Yahoo will be any better than Google in the long run but it's my small form of passive aggressive protesting. I'd like to switch my blogs over to WordPress, but I haven't been happy using WP for a number of reasons.
Now I'm going to sound more like a conspiracy type... I have a concern that in the upcoming days of the "Fairness Doctrine" and other potential censoring of conservatives, that one day Google may just go all the way and block us all. One day we may wake up and find that conservative blogs are down or blocked.
I've been talking off and on with members of other conservative groups and we're looking into options. So far, I don't know that any of us are really spending a lot of time on the issue. We may get caught at some point in the future without a means to communicate if we don't tackle this issue.
Tx to @Anne76 on Twitter for listing the first two stories below, the rest are some I've found as I went out wandering (key words, "Google" "censorship" "conservatives"):
Anti-Obama Bloggers Question Why Google Froze Their Accounts
Some bloggers opposed to Barack Obama say they suspect Obama's supporters — with the assistance of Google — may have tried to censor them when the Internet giant froze their Web sites for five days last month. Seven blogs run by Democrats who oppose Obama’s nomination for the presidency were incorrectly flagged as spam sites by Blogger, the hosting service Google has owned since 2003. Google says it was an automated response from a spam filter.

Google Censorship - How It Works
An anticensorware investigation by Seth Finkelstein
Abstract: This report describes the system by which results in the Google search engine are suppressed.
Google Exclusion, introduction
Google is arguably the world's most popular search engine. However, contrary perhaps to a naive impression, in some cases the results of a search are affected by various government-related factors. That is, search results which may otherwise be shown, are deliberately excluded. The suppression may be local to a country, or global to all Google results.

Is Google Purging Conservative News Sites?

Google News & Google Search Terminates The New Media Journal Because of Complaints About Hate Speech
During routine daily maintenance to The New Media Journal website it was observed that the new opinion and news entries published for May 19, 2006 did not appear in any Google News or Google Search Engine query. What was uncovered after Frank Salvato, managing editor, contacted Google News was nothing short of censorship and a blatant violation of the First Amendment right to free speech.

Inside the world of Google censors
By Michelle Malkin • November 29, 2008 11:05 PM
Several weeks ago, I spoke with GWU law professor Jeffrey Rosen about my curious experiences with YouTube’s mystery censors. Longtime readers will remember the battle over “First, They Came.” For the past two years, my attempts to re-upload the little video about the Mohammed Cartoons and violent jihad were blocked. Other users were able to upload it, but it was blocked from my personal channel. Lo and behold, after Rosen inquired about it, the video is now available again.

Google Censorship By Nathan Tabor
Last week I wrote of the possibility of government censorship on the Internet. “If you’ve never considered the possibility that the federal government might one day tell you what websites you could access...” I stated, not realizing that not the feds, but the most popular search engine on the Net has chosen to tinker with the supposed impartiality of their search algorithms and censor certain websites.
According to Noel Sheppard and Marc Sheppard, writing for the American Thinker, Google has been terminating its news relationship with conservative e-zines and blogs.

Wondering when the MSM is gonna figure it out???
You know something else? They don't know we're out here. They don't know (or they're ignoring) all the people like us who love what she stands for, her character, her intelligence, her values and abilities. She's a TRUE rock star, not one of these empty heads who has a God-given talent and a little luck. Well... some of them just have luck, can't speak for the talent
We need to get active in as many areas as possible on the Internet. We need to have multiple blogs (if time permits). We need to have Twitter, MySpace, Facebook and Yahoo groups going that are associated with our blogs or causes.
We need to make them take notice that we're here.
I'd also suggest that everyone go read a few articles on getting ranking in the search engines. A lot of us don't use key words or labels on our blogs. We should.
Another thing that helps with blogs is to have links to other sites and to mention key phrases in your blogs. For instance, you may have noticed that I will off and on mention something about the Read My Lipstick Network. I do that whenever I can reasonably do it because it helps in rankings, helps in promoting the Network. I try to mention your blogs, which is why doing the hat tip to other blogs is important. They're more likely to find your blog and come read and link to it... Not to mention that it's just the right thing to do!
You have to be reasonable about all the things you do though. The various search engines are set up to ignore obvious attempts to gain rank. In some cases I understand they'll write your blog or website off completely if you try to fool them and get caught.
I'm just rattling off a few thoughts --- you really do need to consider taking a few minutes to read up on ways to increase your readership and visibility on the Internet. If we're going to take the time to write, it is nice to know someone is reading the words
OK, I'm done for now. Keep an eye on the Georgia race. I understand the early voting looks like it was swinging in Saxby's favor, but today there's a high Obama supporter ratio of voters heading out to the polls. The numbers give Saxby 50% to Martin's 46%, but there's a 4% margin of error so who knows what those totals really mean.
If you're in Georgia and you're voting Republican, go VOTE. If you have Republican leaning relatives or friends in Georgia, call them and tell them to VOTE.

Egobama's Birth Certificate Still an Issue
A message from Dawn (aka Donya) to all members of Rush Limbaugh Fans for Sarah Palin on Team Sarah!
Patriots, Forgive me if I’m repeating something you are already aware of, but I want to canvas our site with this letter.
Is everyone aware of what’s STILL in the balance regarding BHO’s birth certificate? I just heard an interview on the radio late last night with the man who is heading-up this suit and claim (that Obama is NOT a natural-born U.S. citizen).
It has NOT been thrown out of court nor resolved yet. There was merely a technical reason (forgive me for not knowing the legal term) why the judge who reviewed it couldn’t weigh in on it.
So now it is moving on to some other level in the courts, and won’t even be reviewed until January 1st (days away from inauguration!).
In the meantime, Obama is getting briefed daily on our nation’s most TOP SECRET issues by our current president and his transition team! Anyway, if this is true, it will be the BIGGEST HOAX in the history of our country (possibly the world), and it is swiftly approaching.
This is a blatant disregard for our Constitutional law!
Forget Bill Ayers, forget Jeremiah Wright, forget “spreading the wealth around”... how about having a U.S. president breaking the first rule of Constitutional law?! And NO ONE’S COVERING THIS (big surprise).
We’re not asking to see his SS number, his health records, or tax records... we’re asking for the same document that ALL of us have to present in order to function as upstanding citizens.
I’m asking everyone to PLEASE go to www.obamacrimes.com, read the info, and PLEASE consider donating to fighting this most important law suit. If everyone on this site donated just $10, we would raise $550,000 towards the legal battle, and put it to rest. Remember, Obama is well entrenched and surrounded by all of his dirty, Chicago, legal team, thugs. Pass this on within this network AND via emails ASAP.
God bless the U.S.A.

Swaying the Last Minute Voters
If the enthusiasm that's there now had been there earlier it would be a land-slide win!!! We can do it, just keep trying, keep reaching out, and keep working to change the minds of any lager's and get those slowskies out to the polls.
How anyone could not know who they're voting for right now is beyond me, but there are many who are easily swayed, and sway they do... McCain, Obama, McCain, Obama... for many it's simply going to be a matter of who talks to them last about the election, which candidates calls them the most, the number of signs they see on lawns as they drive to the polls...
I have run or worked on a ton of local campaigns and I can tell you that in my informal exit polling, voters make choices for the dumbest of dumb reasons.
"He reminded me of my grandfather"
"He's cute"
"I was voting for my neighbor who's running for X and didn't know any of the other candidates so I just voted out the incumbent"
"I never vote for incumbents"
"She has more signs than anyone else"
"My aunt was voting for the other guy and I can't stand her"
Yep, I had people who really said some variation of all those, and they were willing to share.
Those are the voters that should be staying home in my estimation, but they are the ones who are the easiest to sway. If only we can reach them.
Obama's crowds are made up of many kool-ade drinkers. Many are simply followers and they are caught up in the idea of "change" without knowing what they're asking for with that "change".
Obama has done a great job of making himself the cool guy this election. I'm hoping there are enough thinking folks in our country who will look through the personae and vote with their brains.
Go visit www.JohnMcCain.com and go to the tab to the right about making phone calls. They give you a script and phone numbers to call. It's easy and it's fun! If you call during the day you're likely to get a recorder. Even if all you can do is make five calls and convince one person to vote for McCain, you will make a huge difference.
(BTW: Loved the Sarah Palin event earlier this week where everyone started shouting "Use Your Brains, Vote McCain." Wish we'd started with that one a lot earlier.)

So Long, Democrats by Wendy Button, Democratic Speechwrier
So Long Obama
October 28, 2008 6:55am
A speechwriter for Obama, Edwards, and Clinton on why she’s voting McCain.
http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2008-10-28/so-long-obama/1/
Since I started writing speeches more than ten years ago, I have always believed in the Democratic Party. Not anymore. Not after the election of 2008. This transformation has been swift and complete and since I’m a woman writing in the election of 2008, “very emotional.”
... This is what the Democratic Party has been for me; it’s family. Now, it doesn’t even feel like a distant cousin.
This drift started on a personal level with the fall of former Senator John Edwards. It got stronger during the Democratic National Convention when I counted the substantive mentions of poverty on one hand and a whole bunch of bad canned partisan lines against Senator John McCain. Some faith was lifted after Senator Hillary Clinton’s grace during a difficult hour. But that faith was dashed when I saw that someone had raided the Caligula set and planted the old columns at Invesco Field.
The final straw came the other week when Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher (a.k.a Joe the Plumber) asked a question about higher taxes for small businesses. Instead of celebrating his aspirations, they were mocked. He wasn’t “a real plumber,” and “They’re fighting for Joe the Hedge-Fund manager,” and the patronizing, “I’ve got nothing but love for Joe the Plumber.”
Having worked in politics, I know that absolutely none of this is on the level. This back and forth is posturing, a charade, and a political game. These lines are what I refer to as “hooker lines”—a sure thing to get applause and the press to scribble as if they’re reporting meaningful news.
As the nation slouches toward disaster, the level of political discourse is unworthy of this moment in history. We have Republicans raising Ayers and Democrats fostering ageism with “erratic” and jokes about Depends. Sexism. Racism. Ageism and maybe some Socialism have all made their ugly cameos in election 2008. It’s not inspiring. Perhaps this is why I found the initial mocking of Joe so offensive and I realized an old line applied: “I didn’t leave the Democratic Party; the Democratic Party left me.”
The party I believed in wouldn’t look down on working people under any circumstance. And Joe the Plumber is right. This is the absolutely worst time to raise taxes on anyone: the rich, the middle class, the poor, small businesses and corporations.
...That’s not exactly the philosophy of a Democrat. Not only has this party belittled working people in this campaign from Joe the Plumber to the bitter comments, it has also been part of tearing down two female candidates. At first, certain Democrats and the press called Senator Clinton “dishonest.” They went after her cleavage. They said her experience as First Lady consisted of having tea parties. There was no outrage over “Bros before Hoes” or “Iron My Shirt.” Did Senator Clinton make mistakes? Of course. She’s human.
But here we are about a week out and it’s déjà vu all over again. Really, front-page news is how the Republican National Committee paid for Governor Sarah Palin’s wardrobe? Where’s the op-ed about how Obama tucks in his shirt when he plays basketball or how Senator Biden buttons the top button on his golf shirt?
Oh right, this story goes to the sincerity of her Hockey Mom persona. What planet am I living on? Everyone knows that when it comes to appearance, there’s a double standard for women politicians. Remember the speech Speaker Pelosi gave on the floor the day of the bailout vote? Check out how many stories commented on her hair that day and how many mentioned Congressman Barney Frank’s.
Here we are discussing Governor Palin’s clothes—oh wait, now we’re on to the make-up—not what either man is going to do to save our economy. This isn’t an accident. It is part of a manufactured narrative that she is stupid.
Governor Palin and I don’t agree on a lot of things, mostly social issues. But I have grown to appreciate the Governor. I was one of those initial skeptics and would laugh at the pictures. Not anymore. When someone takes on a corrupt political machine and a sitting governor, that is not done by someone with a low I.Q. or a moral core made of tissue paper. When someone fights her way to get scholarships and work her way through college even in a jagged line, that shows determination and humility you can’t learn from reading Reinhold Niebuhr. When a mother brings her son with special needs onto the national stage with love, honesty, and pride, that gives hope to families like mine as my older brother lives with a mental disability. And when someone can sit on a stage during the Sarah Palin rap on Saturday Night Live, put her hands in the air and watch someone in a moose costume get shot—that’s a sign of both humor and humanity.
Has she made mistakes? Of course, she’s human too. But the attention paid to her mistakes has been unprecedented compared to Senator Obama’s “57 states” remarks or Senator Biden using a version of the Samuel Johnson quote, “There’s nothing like a hanging in the morning to focus a man’s thoughts.”
....I can no longer justify what this party has done and can’t dismiss the treatment of women and working people as just part of the new kind of politics. It’s wrong and someone has to say that. And also say that the Democratic Party’s talking points—that Senator John McCain is just four more years of the same and that he’s President Bush—are now just hooker lines that fit a very effective and perhaps wave-winning political argument…doesn’t mean they’re true. After all, he is the only one who’s worked in a bipartisan way on big challenges.
Before I cast my vote, I will correct my party affiliation and change it to No Party or Independent. Then, in the spirit of election 2008, I’ll get a manicure, pedicure, and my hair done. Might as well look pretty when I am unemployed in a city swimming with “D’s.”...

John McCain's Weekly Radio Address
Good morning, this is John McCain. And this week our government finally took a decisive step to regain confidence in our financial markets. It took Congress a while, but a majority finally awakened to the danger. And by the week's end, with the unity that this crisis demands, Congress acted to restore stability to the American economy.
On Thursday night, millions of Americans got to see a little more of why I chose Sarah Palin to be my running mate. In her debate with Senator Joe Biden, she showed the intelligence, heart and grace under pressure that our nation's capital desperately needs. I couldn't be prouder of my choice, or more certain that she's the right person to help me shake things up in Washington. And there were moments when I almost felt a little sorry for my old friend, Joe.
Pressure and crisis often have a way of revealing the best within us -- of showing what we are made of, and how much we can achieve when we are put to the test. This is true of the grave challenges we face in Washington today. Yet it should not require extreme emergencies to bring out the best in us, or to bring us together in service to the common good. We are supposed to do that even in the calmest of times. And if we worked together more often in that spirit, perhaps there would be fewer crises, close-calls, and near-disasters confronting our nation.
Our government is on the wrong track, our economy is struggling, and we got even more bad news with yesterday's unemployment report. It is a time for leadership and a plan to create jobs and get our country on the right track.
I believe in low taxes; spending discipline, and open markets. I believe in rewarding hard work and letting people keep the fruits of their labor. We will keep tax rates low. We will simplify the current tax code. We will double the child exemption from 3500 dollars to 7000 dollars. We will give every family a 5000 dollar tax credit to buy their own health insurance or keep their current plan, and we will open up the national health-care market to expand choices and improve quality. And my administration will reduce the price of food by eliminating the subsidies for ethanol and agricultural goods. These subsidies inflate the price of food, not only for Americans but for people in poverty across the world, and I intend to abolish them.
I believe in a government that unleashes the creativity and initiative of Americans, so they can create more jobs and keep our economy growing. So we will cut business taxes from 35 percent to 25 percent, to give American businesses a new edge in competition. We will spur new investment through R&D tax credits and expensing of equipment. And we will protect the right of workers to decide for themselves, by secret ballot, whether to unionize.
As president, I will also set this country on the straightest, swiftest path to energy independence. We will attack the problem on every front. We will produce more energy at home. We will drill new wells offshore, and we'll drill them now. We will build more nuclear power plants. We will develop clean coal technology. We will increase the use of wind, tide, solar and natural gas. In all of this, and more, we will create millions of new jobs, many in industries that will be the engine of our future prosperity -- jobs that will be there when your children enter the workforce.
If I am elected president, I will also act immediately with reforms to restore fairness, integrity, and financial sanity to the institutions that have failed us on Wall Street. We will apply new rules to Wall Street, to end the frenzies of speculation by people gaming the system, and to make sure that this present crisis is never repeated.
We must also realize that this rescue plan has serious implications for future spending. We cannot dedicate more than a trillion dollars to rescue failing institutions, and then go right back to business as usual in Washington -- as if there were no end to the resources of government or to the patience of taxpayers. Therefore, as president, I will impose a one-year spending freeze on every agency of the federal government, excepting only national defense, the care of our veterans, and a few critical priorities. Leadership requires candor. And I will tell you bluntly that America is already ten trillion dollars in debt, and to make our economy strong again we must reduce the burden of federal spending. We cannot tax our way to prosperity. I am committed to billions in spending reductions that will balance the budget, and get us on the path away from ruinous debt.
The constant partisan rancor that stops us from solving these problems in Washington isn't a cause, it's a symptom. It's what happens when people go to Washington to work for themselves and not you.
Again and again, I've worked with members of both parties to fix problems that need to be fixed. That's how I will govern as president. I will reach out my hand to anyone to help me get this country moving again. I have that record and the scars to prove it.
Instead of rejecting good ideas because we didn't think of them first, let's use the best ideas from both sides. This great country can do anything we put our minds to. I will ask Democrats and Independents to serve with me. And my administration will set a new standard for transparency and accountability. We're going to finally start getting things done for the people who are counting on us, and I won't care who gets the credit.
Thanks for listening.

An uh-duh moment on the Dems and Sarah Palin
They dumped their best bet for first female President, Hillary Clinton.
Then they ignored her as a Vice Presidential candidate.
Now we have a fantastic woman running for Vice President who, if elected, has an excellent chance of being the first female President somewhere down the road. I'd venture to say she stands a good chance of being President even if (God forbid) we don't win in November.
The Democrats are green with envy. They are supposed to have the "firsts" when it comes to women and minorities as they see it, even though the factual records don't support the contention that they actually promote equality in any category be it gender or race.
We have a good looking, articulate, intelligent (brilliant), personable woman who lives what they supposedly espouse and they can't stand it.
They wouldn't like her simply because she's a Republican, no matter what else she believed. However, the fact that she is going to beat them to that "first" is scaring them half to death. The fact that so many of us think she is fantastic and so many women are rallying to her side is curling their toes in envy, is ripping them a new one and driving them nuts. Especially since no matter what they do, no matter what they try, she just keeps gaining support.
Until tonight I hadn't thought about the long-term Presidential "first" aspect of having Sarah in the race, although I fully expected her to be President someday. I hadn't considered how crazy it must be making the Democrats and how it has tossed their plans into disarray! They felt they could get away with Barack Obama on the ticket with anyone, they figured Democratic women would fall in line and vote Democratic. They were wrong. Women are TIRED of being taken for granted and whether we believe exactly the same way Sarah does on every issue is beside the point. We identify with her independence and willingness to forge her own path.
I can't end without again saying thanks to John McCain for having the good judgement to pick Sarah Palin! He did it his way and his way was the right way!

Alaskan Pilots Do NOT Want Us to Elect Sarah Palin!!!
I was shocked given her high approval ratings and all the good reports from Alaska. I could understand one, maybe two, but not all of these guys. I have no idea how many we're talking about, but it was more than a few!
Why? Why? Why?
It's because they don't want to lose her as Governor!
They said she is the first truly honest Governor they've had.
They said she was doing a great job.
They said they wanted to keep her!
Talk about a huge endorsement for Sarah Palin as Vice President!
Did I scare you? Did you think this was going to be something bad? It is bad. It's bad for Obama!
A must-read from our newest network member! Go Sarah!!
I found this on You Tube. Obama patronizes women calling them "Sweetie" as he dismisses their petty and inconsequential (it appears to him, becuz they are women!) concerns. This is his visit to a Michigan auto facility. Michigan female auto workers, Michigan female voters - American workers and women - please don't vote for a man who thinks women can be patronized, dismissed and called "Sweetie".

Trio of Hillary Clinton supporters endorse John McCain
http://www.suntimes.com/news/politics/mccain/1125715,trio082508.article
August 25, 2008
FROM ASSOCIATED PRESS
DENVER — As Democrats try to mollify disappointed supporters of Hillary Clinton, Republicans pushed the theme Monday that Democrats are divided and open to voting for John McCain.
To try to cement the point, the Republican National Committee’s Denver ‘‘war room’’ presented a trio of Clinton supporters and a former Democratic congressman, each of whom is supporting McCain.
‘‘He is a true statesman who will always put the country first,’’ said Tim Penney a former Democratic congressman from Minnesota, now an independent. ‘‘With Obama, we have words; with McCain, we have deeds. With Obama, we have rhetoric; with McCain, we have a record.’’

NEW HAMPSHIRE DEMOCRATIC LEGISLATOR ENDORSES JOHN MCCAIN
For Immediate Release

Friday, September 12, 2008

MANCHESTER, NH -- The McCain-Palin campaign today announced that New Hampshire State Representative Doreen Howard, a Democratic legislator from Newmarket, has endorsed John McCain for president. Representative Howard previously supported Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton's candidacy.
"As a lifelong Democrat who enthusiastically backed Hillary Clinton in the primaries, I am now supporting John McCain. Like Senator Clinton, McCain values the importance of public service. Both Clinton and McCain put country first and that's critically important," said Howard. "John McCain and Sarah Palin are mavericks who have proven they can deliver real reform. As our nation faces challenges at home and abroad, Americans will benefit from their experience, judgment and strong leadership."
Elected in 2006, Representative Howard is a member of the State-Federal Relations and Veterans Affairs Committee. She represents Newmarket and Newfields.
Representative Howard supported John Kerry in 2004 and Al Gore in 2000.

Prominent Democrats and Independents Join "Citizens for McCain"

http://www.johnmccain.com/Informing/News/PressReleases/Read.aspx?Guid=241fb6c6-83a5-4f29-80bc-26ee9e277a94
ARLINGTON, VA -- U.S. Senator John McCain's campaign today announced a group of prominent Democratic and unaffiliated leaders and activists who have joined "Citizens for McCain," a new grassroots effort headed by Senator Joe Lieberman (I-CT) to rally Americans of all political parties to support John McCain's candidacy.
"Citizens for McCain is an organization within the McCain campaign for people who put country before political party and support the presidential candidate who has a proven record of bipartisanship," said Senator Joe Lieberman.
It just keeps getting better!
The polls are awesome right now.
Barack Obama is struggling and it shows. Take away his tele-prompter, unplug the thing, see if he can do what Sarah Palin did on her first big night at the Republican Convention! I was awed at her performance, especially knowing the prompter messed up. I can't imagine standing in front of all those people and managing to string a coherent sentence together with a tele-prompter.
Barack Obama's claim to fame is being able to give a great speech (so they say) when reading from a tele-prompter.
Did any of you see the bit where he said everyone in the United States would get a tax cut? Not just the 95% he's been saying would get a tax cut? What is the percentage of people who don't pay any tax at all? Something like 40% if I remember correctly. Does that mean people who don't pay taxes are going to get a check, too? It's not a tax cut from what I've heard discussed, it's a rebate check. Which to my way of thinking is simply another welfare program, except it goes to everyone regardless of need (unless you're in the "wealthy" 5% and you have to pay the tab for the rest of the country!).
Remember Ayn Rand's book Atlas Shrugged? It's a must-read.
Can't wait to see who's jumping aboard from the Dems tomorrow! You know they wouldn't let the Democrat woman who made the commercial for McCain into the Democratic Convention even though she was an official delegate? I had mixed feelings about that one. I imagine the Republicans would do the same thing if the situation were reversed. I'm sure glad she's supporting John McCain though. I wonder if she has a blog?
