John McCain's Pro-Growth Tax Plan

John McCain believes that the taxes Americans pay should be low, simple and fair. In this time of economic crisis, only John McCain has proposed a bold, pro-growth agenda to lower taxes and jumpstart our economy.

These are some of John McCain's proposals that will reform the tax code, stimulate job growth and return our country to economic prosperity:

Permanently repeal the Alternative Minimum Tax. This initiative alone would save 25 million middle class families nearly $60 billion in a single year -- that's an average of over $2,700 per middle class family with children.

Double the personal exemption for dependents. John McCain believes t he tax code should be less of a burden on those, whether they are mothers and fathers or single parents, who are trying to raise a family. He proposes to raise the personal exemption for each dependent from $3,500 to $7,000.

Cut the corporate tax rate from 35 to 25 percent. America has the 2nd highest corporate tax rate in the world; lower taxes will provide an incentive for companies to do business in America and prevent jobs from moving overseas. Senator Obama's plan to raise taxes on the 23 million small business that make more than $250,000 a year would only result in fewer American jobs and weaker job security for American workers.

Keep the current rates on dividends and capital gains and fight anti-growth efforts by Democrats. Senator Obama's proposal to lift the payroll tax income cap will be the largest tax increase in history -- $1 trillion - and will impact 3 m illion small business owners. In fact, under Senator Obama's plan, 865,000 jobs will be lost by the year 2015.

Enact an alternative new and simpler tax system. When this reform is enacted, all who wish to stay under the current system could still do so, but everyone else could choose a vastly less complicated system with two tax rates and a generous standard deduction.

Americans Can't Afford Senator Obama's Higher Taxes
