Biden's Muzzle is Off...

Wonder how many gaffe's he'll make between now and the election? I guess we shamed them into letting him loose. They picked him, now the Obama has to live with him...

Biden Tells Reporters McCain Won’t Give Up
by Aaron Bruns
LIMA, OH — The muzzle is off.
Joe Biden stopped by a local burger joint for late night take-out, but wound up taking 12 minutes of questions from national reporters who haven’t been able to talk to the Delaware Senator since a flight to Kalispell, MT on September 7th — telling them he expects a tight race.

This election is going to be a lot closer than everybody thinks it is,” Biden said. “I think it’s going to be close in Florida, it’s going to be close here, it’s going to be close in Missouri, I think it’s going to close…I don’t think it will be that close in Pennsylvania, I feel very good about Pennsylvania.”

Re: Press shut down

"A Right Wing Conservative" asked what Obama would do to us on the blogosphere... I've already been wondering how long we'll have the luxury of using Blogger since the owner of Blogger is Google and the owner of Google is a staunch Obama supporter.

I know I get a bit paranoid at times with all this (at least I HOPE I'm being a bit paranoid), but when you see Obama in action and hear what he's telling us he's going to do, one has to worry about freedom of speech (among other things).

A lot of Dems / Liberals have been pushing the so-called "Fairness" Doctrine already. Bet that's one that comes up fairly quickly if we have Dems in control of all government bodies.

How long will it be before dissent or disagreement with Obama's policies becomes a national security risk and we all have to zip our mouths and quell our nimble fingers from typing on our keyboards?

"Lipstick Republican" pointed out something I missed --- "The shutdown began last week with the Obama campaign refusal to honor an interview appointment after Biden was asked something other than the usual softball questions. No major outcry over that, so this week they're going a little further. Which reporter gets muzzled next?"

We all know they're now "Hidin' Biden" to keep him from making any gaffes. I did see him today giving a scripted talk. I heard that Obama hasn't given an press availabilities for over a month, except the last time Biden gaffed and he was forced to talk candidly to the press.

I think the press is being patently stupid, no make that REALLY STUPID, by supporting someone who's going to turn on them before it's all said and done.

Obama Starts His Shut Down of the Press

He's already showing his leanings in many ways... now he's starting the typical shut down of the press that you expect to see in a regime.

The campaign has kicked three national newspapers who endorsed McCain off the campaign plane. New York Post, Dallas Morning News and Washington Times.

More as I get the facts...

Swaying the Last Minute Voters

We have just a few short days to get Sarah Palin and John McCain the votes they need to WIN on Tuesday. There's a lot of enthusiasm out there and I believe we can win.

If the enthusiasm that's there now had been there earlier it would be a land-slide win!!! We can do it, just keep trying, keep reaching out, and keep working to change the minds of any lager's and get those slowskies out to the polls.

How anyone could not know who they're voting for right now is beyond me, but there are many who are easily swayed, and sway they do... McCain, Obama, McCain, Obama... for many it's simply going to be a matter of who talks to them last about the election, which candidates calls them the most, the number of signs they see on lawns as they drive to the polls...

I have run or worked on a ton of local campaigns and I can tell you that in my informal exit polling, voters make choices for the dumbest of dumb reasons.

"He reminded me of my grandfather"
"He's cute"
"I was voting for my neighbor who's running for X and didn't know any of the other candidates so I just voted out the incumbent"
"I never vote for incumbents"
"She has more signs than anyone else"
"My aunt was voting for the other guy and I can't stand her"

Yep, I had people who really said some variation of all those, and they were willing to share.

Those are the voters that should be staying home in my estimation, but they are the ones who are the easiest to sway. If only we can reach them.

Obama's crowds are made up of many kool-ade drinkers. Many are simply followers and they are caught up in the idea of "change" without knowing what they're asking for with that "change".

Obama has done a great job of making himself the cool guy this election. I'm hoping there are enough thinking folks in our country who will look through the personae and vote with their brains.

Go visit www.JohnMcCain.com and go to the tab to the right about making phone calls. They give you a script and phone numbers to call. It's easy and it's fun! If you call during the day you're likely to get a recorder. Even if all you can do is make five calls and convince one person to vote for McCain, you will make a huge difference.

(BTW: Loved the Sarah Palin event earlier this week where everyone started shouting "Use Your Brains, Vote McCain." Wish we'd started with that one a lot earlier.)

Sign the Fight FOCA Petition

www.fightfoca.com

Barack Obama made a promise.
Last year before the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, Barack Obama told pro-abortion activists:

The first thing I’d do as President is sign the Freedom of Choice Act.

SEE THE VIDEO IN THE RIGHT SIDEBAR (scroll down) —->

With a single stroke of the pen, the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) would establish the right to abortion as a fundamental right (like the right to free speech) and wipe away every restriction on abortion nationwide.

Twenty Senators (including Sen. Barack Obama) and 109 U.S. Representatives have co-sponsored this "Freedom of Choice Act." The stated aim of this legislation is to "end the abortion wars."

To these legislators, "ending the abortion wars" means allowing abortion for any reason, at any time, without any restriction or any regulation. This would eradicate state and federal laws that the majority of Americans support.

FOCA would erase these laws and prevent states from enacting similar protective measures in the future.

Americans United for Life (AUL), a pro-life law and policy organization, has prepared an analysis of the "Freedom of Choice Act." Please click here to read AUL Vice President & Legal Director Denise Burke’s analysis of this horrendous legislation.

Please add your name to the Fight FOCA petition and let your friends know about Barack Obama’s promise to expand abortion throughout the country.

Obama's 2005 Letter to Daily Kos --- Very Telling

Obama's 2005 Daily Kos Post : Tone It Down , and Usher in a New Progressive Era
By Kerry Picket October 30, 2008 - 19:58
Barack Obama sent a letter to the Daily Kos which was posted back in 2005 to talk strategy and "change" to the Kossacks. Obama was very serious about toning down the rhetoric only until it was safe enough to "enforce a more clearly progressive agenda.” (h/t to Gateway Pundit for bringing this back through Sweetness and Light) (my emphasis added:)
I thought this might be a good opportunity to offer some thoughts about not only judicial confirmations, but how to bring about meaningful change in this country.

Time: Obama Campaign Hiding Gaffe-prone Biden From Reporters
By Noel Sheppard October 29, 2008 - 15:14 ET
Although it goes without saying that Time magazine is one of the nation's leading Obama-loving media outlets, national political correspondent Karen Tumulty published an article Wednesday which surprisingly addressed how the junior senator from Illinois' campaign is doing everything in its power to hide the gaffe-prone Joe Biden from reporters.

Idea for Business Owners

Rec'd this via email, love it:

Dear Fellow Business Owners

As a Business owner who employs 30 people, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barack Obama will be our next President, and that I will be forced to lay off 6 of my employees.

This really bothered me as I believe we are family here and didn't know how to choose who will have to go. So, this is what I did. I strolled thru the parking lot and found 8 Obama bumper stickers on my employees' cars. I have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off.

I can't think of another fair way to approach this problem. If you have a better idea, please let me know.

I am sending this letter to all Business owners that I know.

Breaking Up With Barack Obama

Ladies and gents in the Read My Lipstick Network (and others) you just have to read this great blog. We need to invite Conservative Insights to be a member of our network, she's priceless! Thanks to Coyote Blue Jay for finding this and sharing.

Breaking Up With Barack Obama
Nauseated. That is the overwhelming feeling I have now every time I see Obama on television. Now to be clear, I don't dislike the man personally and it's not even political, it has just become too much. He is everywhere and you cannot escape him, its like the guy has decided the only way to win is to suffocate the electorate with his presence. Last night's infomercial is what finally put it over the top. The music, the wheat flowing in the wind...did I mention the music? Obama was his usual catatonic self, lit in a setting worthy of a Werther's Hard Candy commercial and that is when it hit me: it has finally become too much and I think the electorate is ready to end their relationship with Obama....
http://conservativeinsights.typepad.com/my_weblog/2008/10/breaking-up-wit.html

Obama votes present ho often?... and he's late to do it!

This is a great video showing many of the times Obama was late getting to the Senate. It's not like he had to be on time to vote "present" like he did on so many occasions... but still, a little respect please! Talking on the phone, too. Rude.

It's on YouTube twice that I could find, not sure which is best or who owns it.

The Night Before Elections

I have no idea who wrote this, it came via email... but I just had to share:

'Twas the night before elections
And all through the town
Tempers were flaring
Emotions all up and down!

I, in my bathrobe
With a cat in my lap
Had cut off the TV
Tired of political crap.

When all of a sudden
There arose such a noise
I peered out of my window
Saw Obama and his boys

They had come for my wallet
They wanted my pay
To give to the others
Who had not worked a day!

He snatched up my money
And quick as a wink
Jumped back on his bandwagon
As I gagged from the stink

He then rallied his henchmen
Who were pulling his cart
I could tell they were out
To tear my country apart!

'On Fannie, on Freddie,
On Biden and Ayers!
On ACORN, On Pelosi'
He screamed at the pairs!

They took off for his cause
And as he flew out of sight
I heard him laugh at the nation
Who wouldn't stand up and fight!

So I leave you to think
On this one final note-
IF YOU DON'T WANT SOCIALISM
GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!

FLOOD the LATimes with Calls People...Demand That Tape!!

Posted by Natalie on www.TeamSarah.org:

Below is contact info for the LATimes. I called them twice this morning and emailed them once and will do so every day till election day to put pressure to release this tape. We need to DEMAND as John McCain did for the release. This is an easy one, people, make that call, send that email and do so thru Tuesday. We must do all that we can and leave no stone unturned.

Please do your part to demand fair news when it is very obvious what is going on here. I've listed several different number for you and ultimately, at the bottom, I've posted a direct link to be able to get additional number is you need them. When I spoke with the operator, it was obvious that she was stressed from people calling.

So Long, Democrats by Wendy Button, Democratic Speechwrier

I highly encourage you to read the entire article rather than the excerpts I've included. Wendy Button is not alone, there are many, many Democrats and former Democrats who are supporting Sarah Palin and John McCain. Read this article, then do a search on topics like Democrats for John McCain, Hillary Supporters 4 McCain, Wake Up America Movement and PUMA. There are more and more across the country who are putting principles before party on both sides of the political divide.

So Long Obama
October 28, 2008 6:55am
A speechwriter for Obama, Edwards, and Clinton on why she’s voting McCain.
http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2008-10-28/so-long-obama/1/

Since I started writing speeches more than ten years ago, I have always believed in the Democratic Party. Not anymore. Not after the election of 2008. This transformation has been swift and complete and since I’m a woman writing in the election of 2008, “very emotional.”

... This is what the Democratic Party has been for me; it’s family. Now, it doesn’t even feel like a distant cousin.

This drift started on a personal level with the fall of former Senator John Edwards. It got stronger during the Democratic National Convention when I counted the substantive mentions of poverty on one hand and a whole bunch of bad canned partisan lines against Senator John McCain. Some faith was lifted after Senator Hillary Clinton’s grace during a difficult hour. But that faith was dashed when I saw that someone had raided the Caligula set and planted the old columns at Invesco Field.

The final straw came the other week when Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher (a.k.a Joe the Plumber) asked a question about higher taxes for small businesses. Instead of celebrating his aspirations, they were mocked. He wasn’t “a real plumber,” and “They’re fighting for Joe the Hedge-Fund manager,” and the patronizing, “I’ve got nothing but love for Joe the Plumber.”

Having worked in politics, I know that absolutely none of this is on the level. This back and forth is posturing, a charade, and a political game. These lines are what I refer to as “hooker lines”—a sure thing to get applause and the press to scribble as if they’re reporting meaningful news.

As the nation slouches toward disaster, the level of political discourse is unworthy of this moment in history. We have Republicans raising Ayers and Democrats fostering ageism with “erratic” and jokes about Depends. Sexism. Racism. Ageism and maybe some Socialism have all made their ugly cameos in election 2008. It’s not inspiring. Perhaps this is why I found the initial mocking of Joe so offensive and I realized an old line applied: “I didn’t leave the Democratic Party; the Democratic Party left me.”

The party I believed in wouldn’t look down on working people under any circumstance. And Joe the Plumber is right. This is the absolutely worst time to raise taxes on anyone: the rich, the middle class, the poor, small businesses and corporations.

...That’s not exactly the philosophy of a Democrat. Not only has this party belittled working people in this campaign from Joe the Plumber to the bitter comments, it has also been part of tearing down two female candidates. At first, certain Democrats and the press called Senator Clinton “dishonest.” They went after her cleavage. They said her experience as First Lady consisted of having tea parties. There was no outrage over “Bros before Hoes” or “Iron My Shirt.” Did Senator Clinton make mistakes? Of course. She’s human.

But here we are about a week out and it’s déjà vu all over again. Really, front-page news is how the Republican National Committee paid for Governor Sarah Palin’s wardrobe? Where’s the op-ed about how Obama tucks in his shirt when he plays basketball or how Senator Biden buttons the top button on his golf shirt?

Oh right, this story goes to the sincerity of her Hockey Mom persona. What planet am I living on? Everyone knows that when it comes to appearance, there’s a double standard for women politicians. Remember the speech Speaker Pelosi gave on the floor the day of the bailout vote? Check out how many stories commented on her hair that day and how many mentioned Congressman Barney Frank’s.

Here we are discussing Governor Palin’s clothes—oh wait, now we’re on to the make-up—not what either man is going to do to save our economy. This isn’t an accident. It is part of a manufactured narrative that she is stupid.

Governor Palin and I don’t agree on a lot of things, mostly social issues. But I have grown to appreciate the Governor. I was one of those initial skeptics and would laugh at the pictures. Not anymore. When someone takes on a corrupt political machine and a sitting governor, that is not done by someone with a low I.Q. or a moral core made of tissue paper. When someone fights her way to get scholarships and work her way through college even in a jagged line, that shows determination and humility you can’t learn from reading Reinhold Niebuhr. When a mother brings her son with special needs onto the national stage with love, honesty, and pride, that gives hope to families like mine as my older brother lives with a mental disability. And when someone can sit on a stage during the Sarah Palin rap on Saturday Night Live, put her hands in the air and watch someone in a moose costume get shot—that’s a sign of both humor and humanity.

Has she made mistakes? Of course, she’s human too. But the attention paid to her mistakes has been unprecedented compared to Senator Obama’s “57 states” remarks or Senator Biden using a version of the Samuel Johnson quote, “There’s nothing like a hanging in the morning to focus a man’s thoughts.”

....I can no longer justify what this party has done and can’t dismiss the treatment of women and working people as just part of the new kind of politics. It’s wrong and someone has to say that. And also say that the Democratic Party’s talking points—that Senator John McCain is just four more years of the same and that he’s President Bush—are now just hooker lines that fit a very effective and perhaps wave-winning political argument…doesn’t mean they’re true. After all, he is the only one who’s worked in a bipartisan way on big challenges.

Before I cast my vote, I will correct my party affiliation and change it to No Party or Independent. Then, in the spirit of election 2008, I’ll get a manicure, pedicure, and my hair done. Might as well look pretty when I am unemployed in a city swimming with “D’s.”...

Sarah Palin's Glass Ceiling Speech

Ya gotta love our Sarah! How can someone NOT vote for this fantastic lady? Yep, John McCain is great, too, and I'm going to feel relieved when I know he's sitting in the oval office, but Sarah runs circles around all the candidates in my estimation. I love how real she is and how strong she is despite the worst borking I may have ever seen done to anyone aside from George W. Bush (and only because they've been attacking him for longer).

Sarah Palin's A Brainiac

"I'm a Democrat, but I've worked as a consultant with the McCain campaign since shortly after Palin's nomination. Last week, there was the thought that as a former editor-in-chief of Ms. magazine as well as a feminist activist in my pre-journalism days, I might be helpful in contributing to a speech that Palin had long wanted to give on women's rights. What is often called her 'confidence' is actually a rarity in national politics: I saw a woman who knows exactly who she is." --Elaine Lafferty

"Sarah Palin's A Brainiac"
By Elaine Lafferty
The Daily Beast
October 27, 2008

It's difficult not to froth when one reads, as I did again and again this week, doubts about Sarah Palin's "intelligence," coming especially from women such as PBS's Bonnie Erbe, who, as near as I recall, has not herself heretofore been burdened with the Susan Sontag of Journalism moniker. As Fred Barnes---God help me, I'm agreeing with Fred Barnes---suggests in the Weekly Standard, these high toned and authoritative dismissals come from people who have never met or spoken with Sarah Palin. Those who know her, love her or hate her, offer no such criticism. They know what I know, and I learned it from spending just a little time traveling on the cramped campaign plane this week: Sarah Palin is very smart.

I'm a Democrat, but I've worked as a consultant with the McCain campaign since shortly after Palin's nomination. Last week, there was the thought that as a former editor-in-chief of Ms. magazine as well as a feminist activist in my pre-journalism days, I might be helpful in contributing to a speech that Palin had long wanted to give on women's rights.

What is often called her "confidence" is actually a rarity in national politics: I saw a woman who knows exactly who she is.

Now by "smart," I don't refer to a person who is wily or calculating or nimble in the way of certain talented athletes who we admire but suspect don't really have serious brains in their skulls. I mean, instead, a mind that is thoughtful, curious, with a discernable pattern of associative thinking and insight. Palin asks questions, and probes linkages and logic that bring to mind a quirky law professor I once had. Palin is more than a "quick study"; I'd heard rumors around the campaign of her photographic memory and, frankly, I watched it in action. She sees. She processes. She questions, and only then, she acts. What is often called her "confidence" is actually a rarity in national politics: I saw a woman who knows exactly who she is.

For all those old enough to remember Senator Sam Ervin, the brilliant strict constitutional constructionist and chairman of the Senate Watergate Committee whose patois included "I'm just a country lawyer"...Yup, Palin is that smart.

So no simple task then, this speech on women's rights. For the sin of being a Christian personally opposed to abortion, Palin is being pilloried by the inside-the-Beltway Democrat feminist establishment. (Yes, she is anti-abortion. And yes, instead of buying organic New Zealand lamb at Whole Foods, she joins other Alaskans in hunting for food. That's it. She is not a right-wing nut, and all the rest of the Internet drivel---the book banning at the Library, the rape kits decision---is nonsense. I digress.) Palin's role in this campaign was to energize "the Republican base," which she has inarguably done. She also was expected to reach out to Hillary Clinton "moderates." (Right. Only a woman would get both those jobs in either party.) Look, I am obviously personally pro-choice, and I disagree with McCain and Palin on that and a few other issues. But like many other Democrats, including Lynn Rothschild, I'm tired of the Democratic Party taking women fo r granted. I also happen to believe Sarah Palin supports women's rights, deeply and passionately.

Many of those---not all---who decried the sexist media treatment of Hillary Clinton have been silent as Palin has been skewered in the old ways that female public figures are skewered, as well as a host of sexualized new ways as well. Some feminists have weighed in; "Even the reportedly clear glasses she wears to play down her beauty queen credential and enhance her gravitas can't make up for experience," writes my heroine Suzanne Braun Levine, former editor of Ms. Oppose her on policy? Fine. But how sad for feminist leaders to sink this low, especially when Palin has worn glasses since she was 10 years old.

Last month a prominent feminist blogger, echoing that sensibility, declared that the media was wrongly buying into the false idea that Palin was a feminist. Why? Well, just because she said she was a feminist, because she supported women's rights and opportunities, equal pay, Title IV---that was just "empty rhetoric," they said. At least the blogger didn't go as far as NOW's Kim Gandy and declare that Palin was not a woman. Bottom line: you are not a feminist until we say you are. And there you have the formula for diminishing what was once a great and important mass social change movement to an exclusionary club that rejects women who sincerely want to join and, God forbid, grow to lead.

But here is the good news: women, citizens of America's high and low culture, the Economist and People magazine readers, will get it. They got it with Hillary even when feminist leaders were not supporting her or doing so half-heartedly. Yes, Palin is a harder sell, she looks and sounds different, and one can rightfully oppose her based on abortion policies. If you only vote on how a person personally feels about abortion, you will never want her to darken your door. If you care about anything else, she will continue to intrigue you. As Time's Nancy Gibbs noted a few weeks ago, quoting bioethicist Tom Murray, "Sympathy and subtlety are seasonings rarely applied to political red meat." Will Palin's time come next week? I don't know. But her time will come.

McCain-Palin - I can't wait to see them in the White House!

Isn't it going to be great in January when John McCain and Sarah Palin move into the White House? I can't wait for the changes we're going to see!

I know everyone keeps dumping on how minute the earmarks are, but to me they're a big thing. It speaks to the mindset of those we've elected, their ego, their need for power, their need to stay elected and their lack of concern for our hard-earned tax dollars.

I saw a thing today from the Wall Street Journal comparing the tax plans of Barack Obama and John McCain. It spelled out very clearly how much better McCain's plan will be for all, not just the few.

I'm in the process of re-reading Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. I highly recommend it to everyone. I don't agree with everything she puts forth, but I think it is a timely read given what we're hearing from the Obama campaign.

I am hearing more and more enthusiasm for our ticket! Today while scanning through blogs and email messages I saw the news about the W.A.M. '08 group (http://www.wam08.org/ I think). This is a group of thousands and thousands and thousands of Independent, Democrat and Republican groups and individuals working together to get McCain-Palin elected.

Then I received an update from http://www.teamsarah.org/ and saw the huge increases in numbers overnight! It jumped 10,000 in just one day! Impressive don't you think?

And then I saw the post by one of my fellow bloggers about the http://www.catholicvote.org/ (or .com?) group that is over a million strong. Pro-LIFE, which should mean pro-McCain-Palin.

There are many, many people who are working hard, doing things that aren't making it into the mainstream media. We can do this friends, we can and will win on Nov. 4th! Start thinking about all the great things the future holds for us with Sarah Palin out there working to make us oil independent! She's going to be a superb advocate for our special needs children, too.

Palin and McCain are going to be able to make great strides in Washington to clean up the rabble. I think they'll probably be fighting a Democrat Congress, but in two years if we keep working we can hand them enough votes to work miracles during the last two years of this term.

I noted that Priests for Life (Catholic group) is asking members to pray every night for the right choice on Nov. 4th (or something like that). I think all Christians and those of any praying faith should be joining them in sending up prayers for wisdom for voters.

Loved the slogan I heard shouted out today at a Palin rally: Use your brain, vote McCain! Catchy.

Another Poll on Sarah Palin...

Please take a minute and go vote: http://news.aol.com/political-machine/2008/10/27/hot-seat-palin-effect/?icid=100214839x1211943295x1200768921

They're wanting to know if Sarah Palin has helped or hurt... Ya think they'd do one on Joe Biden maybe?

OK, you can stop laughing now.

Joe Biden... ya think he's qualified to be our VP?

Subtitle: Open Mouth, Insert Both Feet. Walk Away.

One gaffe after another should tell you how this man's mind works. Can you imagine him at the table with world leaders? Our press may be in cahoots and manage to overlook every crazy remark that flows straight from his mind to his mouth, but we could be in some deep doo-doo if he says the wrong thing.

There's been a lot of talk in the past few days about his almost identical comments at two different events last weekend. He pretty much promised that if we elect Obama we'll be electing to face some international crisis. This from the man who said he'd love to serve with John McCain as his VP, more so than with Obama (said when he was running for the top slot).

(Side note: who says "gird your loins" anymore???)

Here's some of his comments from the event (I understand ABC was shamed into printing the remarks, article, video, etc.):

"Mark my words, it will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."

"I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate and he's gonna need help. And the kind of help he's gonna need is, he's gonna need you - not financially to help him - we're gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it's not gonna be apparent initially, it's not gonna be apparent that we're right."

"Gird your loins. We're gonna win with your help, God willing, we're gonna win, but this is not gonna be an easy ride. This president, the next president, is gonna be left with the most significant task. It's like cleaning the Augean stables, man. This is more than just, this is more than – think about it, literally, think about it – this is more than just a capital crisis, this is more than just markets. This is a systemic problem we have with this economy."

"I've forgotten more about foreign policy than most of my colleagues know, so I'm not being falsely humble with you. I think I can be value added, but this guy has it. This guy has it. But he's gonna need your help. Because I promise you, you all are gonna be sitting here a year from now going, 'Oh my God, why are they there in the polls? Why is the polling so down? Why is this thing so tough?' We're gonna have to make some incredibly tough decisions in the first two years. So I'm asking you now, I'm asking you now, be prepared to stick with us. Remember the faith you had at this point because you're going to have to reinforce us."

"There are gonna be a lot of you who want to go, 'Whoa, wait a minute, yo, whoa, whoa, I don't know about that decision'. Because if you think the decision is sound when they're made, which I believe you will when they're made, they're not likely to be as popular as they are sound. Because if they're popular, they're probably not sound."

"We do not have the military capacity, nor have we ever, quite frankly, in the last 20 years, to dictate outcomes. It's so much more important than that. It's so much more complicated than that. And Barack gets it."

"I probably shouldn't have said all this because it dawned on me that the press is here. All kidding aside, these guys have left us in a God-awful place. We have the ability to straighten it out. It's gonna take a little bit of time, so I ask you to stay with us. Stay with us."

Biden to Supporters: "Gird Your Loins", For the Next President "It's Like Cleaning Augean Stables"
October 20, 2008 7:35 AM

ABC News' Matthew Jaffe Reports: Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., on Sunday guaranteed that if elected, Sen. Barack Obama., D-Ill., will be tested by an international crisis within his first six months in power and he will need supporters to stand by him as he makes tough, and possibly unpopular, decisions. http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/10/biden-to-suppor.html

Here's Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright AGREEING with Joe Biden.

I can't imagine voting for a ticket with this man on it and I certainly would be fearful of ever having him become our President. He seems like a nice enough guy, someone I'd probably enjoy talking with as long as we stayed away from politics. Hmmm.... maybe I'll invite him to eat at Katie's Restaurant in Wilmington, you know the one he loves so much... oh wait, I forgot, it closed down something like 20 years ago. So much for being in touch with the little people, huh, Joe? Maybe we can hang out at the Home Depot and then go build something together.

Do I sound sarcastic? Good. I'm getting tired of being so darned nice while Obama and Biden slap Sarah and John McCain around with their malicious lies.

More on God, Character and Judgement

I hit the post button on that last blog just a bit faster than I should have... I had more to say.

I have been thinking about the Reverend Wright and his brand of Christianity. I've also been thinking about how difficult it is to talk about the Rev without being called a racist.

It's OK for Obama to slap at those who hold their Bibles and religion close to their hearts, but it's not OK for us to talk about a man who preaches hate simply because the color of his skin might be different than mine.

When race is used to stop people from honest discussion of events and issues, then to my way of thinking it's just a different kind of racism. When we can talk openly about things without being branded racist, then we will be a truly color-blind country.

Barack Obama gets a "pass" when he slams those who believe in God as being idiots (at least that's how I took his comment), but a white man or woman can't say they don't like the words someone speaks if they have darker skin. Stupid, silly and it's a huge hammer that is held over the heads of people. It's used to keep us from speaking out, it's used to keep John McCain's campaign from speaking out.

I have had discussions on this subject with some of my black friends. We've talked at length about the difficulties they've experienced in life because of their skin color. I grew up military, which is about the most color-blind group of individuals you can be around. I didn't know that skin color mattered to anyone until I was in my teens.

I judge a person by their character, their judgement and their actions. I expect higher character, better judgement and stellar actions from my President. If I were to take a piece of paper and start linking up actions, judgement, experience, choices, friends and associates, and other factors John McCain would leave Barack Obama in the dust.

Talking about God, Character and Judgement

Back in April of this year Barack Obama was "outed" for saying "And it's not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

In comment after comment he raises questions in the minds of many regarding his stated commitment to the Christian faith. I have no idea what is in his heart or whether he is a Christian as he claims, or a closet Muslim as some contend.

Recently the question of "using" the Reverend Jeremiah Wright's nasty version of religion has again come up. I for one think it's valid to bring up the subject. Obama chose to go to that church for twenty years. Whether he did it for political reasons as some assert or whether he simply liked what he heard Sunday after Sunday matters not to me. Either way he made a bad choice and it speaks to his judgement.

Add up all the questionable characters he's chosen to pal around with and I have huge doubts about his judgement and his foundation. How do you judge the people you meet? Often it's based on who they choose for friends along with many other factors.

You won't let your children hang out with kids who act out, who get into trouble, who have certain tendencies or problems. Life is all about choices and judgements. If Obama was blind to Rev. Wright's nature after hanging out with him, being mentored by him for that length of time, how easy will it be for the wrong element to pull the wool over his eyes?

It says a lot about a person's character if they're willing to overlook the elephant in the room along with the person who owns the elephant. Barack Obama has a herd of elephants hanging out in his room and half the nation is willing to ignore them. I suppose using an elephant in the room analogy isn't the best given what it symbolizes politically! Pretend it's a room full of donkeys. Hard to ignore either animal yet there are a lot of people who are doing just that, and doing it happily.

Two Great Videos, Exposing ACORN

These will take you a bit, the first is just under 8 minutes, the second is around 9 minutes, but these need to be shared on every blog and sent out via email. I was particularly appalled when they talk about "the dominance of the religious right over our religion and our politics is almost finished" and other similar slams by the so-called Reverend Wallace. He talks about Obama saying he wants to change things. These videos say it all. We have been asleep at the wheel while Obama steals this election. The "Bush crime family"??? You won't believe some of the trash that is dished out on these videos by the speakers to the huge crowd of ACORN members! "We're getting Obama for President", "Obama needs us, but we need Obama".

Maxine Waters at ACORN Cnvention Selling Barack Obama to Group

ACORN is getting federal funding and they're supposed to be non-partisan. Take a look at this video from last June as Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) Speaks At ACORN National Convention about Obama. She goes on to talk about how horrible President Bush has been. I'm searching right now for a few other videos from the convention (BEFORE ACORN was in the spotlight, before they expected to ever be on the carpet for voter fraud and their part in helping Obama steal the election with YOUR tax dollars).

First they came for Joe the Plummer...

First they came for Joe the Plummer, but I remained silent... because I wanted Barack Obama to win...

We may have to revise the oft quoted and modified poem (posted below).

They came for Joe the Plummer and they're still going after him. "They" being Barack Obama, Joe Biden, the Democratic Party, the Liberals and the Media. They can't dispute what Obama said, they can't dispute the connection Joe has had and the impact of the conversation, thus they tear him down.

We all need to understand as conservatives that they will someday come for us if we don't speak out, speak loud and get our friends out to vote on or before November 4th.

They went after Sarah Palin and have been somewhat successful with the easily swayed.

Don't you think, know, that if the Democrats have the White House, the Congress and the Supreme Court that the so-called "Fairness" Doctrine will be enacted? Don't you realize that if they can bring this machine into play in this force now, when they only have semi-power, that we are in for real problems if they have total control?

They will come for us someday.

If we don't stand for something we'll fall for anything as the saying goes. There are a lot of people who are falling for Obama and for his message of government solving all problems, taking care of your ills and, as Obama said, redistributing the wealth.

We think our country is a strong democracy and we'll always be strong. I contend that we may be in the midst of an overthrow and half the country is opening their arms and embracing it simply because they want someone to take care of them.

I hope I'm being silly and fanciful. Maybe I am. But what if I'm not? Why take a chance?

Many of my friends talk about how bad it's going to be if Obama gets into office. They think that in four years the country will be so fed up with his policies that the Republicans will sweep back into office. I think Obama is smarter than that. I think he'll be in there for eight years if he wins and that by the end of those eight years we won't recognize our country, and possibly our world given their fascination with the American "One".

"First they came…" is a poem attributed to Pastor Martin Niemöller (1892–1984) about the inactivity of German intellectuals following the Nazi rise to power and the purging of their chosen targets, group after group.

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.
When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.
When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.
When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I was not a Jew.
When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.

Campaign Updates

Some recent news I thought you might like to read posted below (from Republican Candidates). Love the endorsements that are coming in! I find it interesting that the press is making such a big deal out of Colin Powell yet they've ignored the other four Secretary of States who've endorsed John McCain, they've ignored all the retired Admirals, Generals, and others who've endorsed him. I understand that Colin Powell is "hot" news because he's a Republican in name (only), but I don't think they'd have had him on Meet the Press for the length of time they did yesterday if he'd been endorsing John McCain. He'd have been a short blurb, ho hum.

Five Days of the Obama ACORN Connection: Day 1 - Deep Roots
Today, McCain-Palin 2008 campaign spokesman Ben Porritt released the following statement: "While serving as the director of Project Vote, Barack Obama formed the roots of his political career alongside ACORN, which is currently under investigation in thirteen states for election fraud and is also under investigation by the FBI...

Las Vegas Review-Journal Endorses John McCain
"If the United States is to emerge from this downturn in a position to ensure its citizens have the opportunities enjoyed by previous generations, we must get a handle on out-of-control federal spending -- and that is nowhere reflected in the policies advocated by the Democratic candidate....

Mexican-American actress Katie Barberi Endorses John McCain
"The American people need a strong leader who has the experience and the judgment to be the next President of the United States, and that man is John McCain." -- Katie Barberi
The McCain-Palin campaign today announced the endorsement of Mexican-American actress Katie Barberi...

John McCain On "Fox News Sunday"
"Redistribution of the wealth, I don't believe in it. I believe in wealth-creation by Joe the Plumber." -- John McCain
John McCain
Fox News' "Fox News Sunday"

John McCain: "I started turning it around the other night when we challenged Senator Obama's words. He is the most eloquent person I've ever known in politics. But he said he would on offshore drilling, he would, quote, 'consider it,' when he made several other statements that were clearly equivocation....

The Columbus Dispatch Endorses John McCain
"McCain's Democratic opponent, Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, is a rousing motivational speaker, but his experience and achievements -- eight years in the Illinois Legislature and less than four in the U.S. Senate -- do not stand comparison with McCain's. A resume containing so little evidence of leadership and accomplishment leaves in question Obama's ability to handle the most responsible and difficult job in the world...

The Dallas Morning News Endorses John McCain
"Mr. McCain has shown the bipartisan leadership Americans want. For example, the Republican maverick has worked with Democrats on campaign finance laws, immigration reform and climate change. When party infighting brought the Senate to a standstill on judicial nominations...

"Another View: McCain The Stronger Candidate" (Philadelphia Inquirer)
"No one is better prepared than John McCain to serve as commander in chief and lead the country as it seeks successful outcomes in both Iraq and Afghanistan, and to work with Pakistan to help kill or capture the perpetrators of 9/11. McCain's actions as a POW in Vietnam were heroic. In Congress, he has become intimately familiar with the strengths and weaknesses of the Pentagon. The Arizona senator has stood up to generals...

Watch this blog...

I was posting things on here at times from the McCain campaign AND always on Republican Candidates. I'm running short on time so prefer to stop duplicating and getting mixed up on what I've posted in which blog!

I hope all my readers will add Republican Candidates to your follow list, or your favorites, or whatever list you favor. I post all the communications from the McCain campaign there.

I called the press office yesterday and asked about getting copies of Sarah's speeches... they said they'd had some requests but they weren't doing it, although they were considering it. I know they want to focus on the main guy , but it would be cool to have some of her speeches. I'm sure they're posted somewhere, I'll try to find out in my "spare" time!

Call your friends, send letters, call your local Republican Party and find out what you can do to get McCain-Palin elected! The polls are tightening up and we can still do this! Let's shock the media and stand strong for our values!

What They're Saying About John McCain Debate

"McCain Has Best Debate Yet In Final Face-Off," With "Aggressive, Assertive" Performance
Time's Mark Halperin: "McCain has best debate yet in final face-off. ... McCain: A- ..." (Mark Halperin, "Enough (!)(?)" TIME's "The Page" Blog, thepage.time.com, 10/15/08)

· Halperin: "During the first half of the debate, showed off the best of himself -- dedicated, sincere, patriotic, cheery, earnest, commanding--all without seeming old or anxious. Even scored some points in the 'change' category, against the candidate who has owned the theme. Clear, upbeat, and totally on message." (Mark Halperin, "Mark Halperin's Grades For The Final Presidential Debate," TIME's "The Page" Blog, thepage.time.com, 10/15/08)

· Halperin: "[I]f a majority of persuadable voters watched the debate, they saw why McCain's advisers have faith in him and still believe he can win this race." (Mark Halperin, "Mark Halperin's Grades For The Final Presidential Debate," TIME's "The Page" Blog, thepage.time.com, 10/15/08)

CNN's John King: "It was by far McCain's best performance of the three debates. ... It was by far McCain's most aggressive, assertive." (CNN, 10/15/08)

The Associated Press' Liz Sidoti: "John McCain Kept Barack Obama On The Defensive ... By That Measure, McCain Won The Last Debate Of The 2008 Campaign." "This time, John McCain kept Barack Obama on the defensive. The feisty Republican tried hard to find a lifeline Wednesday night, challenging his Democratic rival at every turn over his truthfulness, associations and record. By that measure, McCain won the last debate of the 2008 campaign." (Liz Sidoti, "McCain Puts Obama On The Defensive," The Associated Press, 10/15/08)

MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell: "I thought John McCain had a very strong night. I thought it was his best debate, clearly." (MSNBC's "Post Debate Analysis," 10/15/08)

Former Clinton White House Press Secretary Dee Dee Myers: "I thought it was a stronger night for McCain, though, than the last debate, and he got in some licks, like the one that Dan was talking about where he said you know, if you wanted to run against George Bush you should have run four years ago. I think he brought up Joe The Plumber and used that quite effectively for most of the times he brought it up, which was a lot of times. So a stronger performance from McCain." (CBS's "Presidential Debate," 10/15/08)

CNN's Candy Crowley: "I would agree this was not Obama's best debate." (CNN, 10/15/08)

CNN's Gloria Borger: "John McCain finally got to say tonight I am not George W. Bush. ... That was his best line. That's the line he has been waiting to say." (CNN, 10/15/08)

CNN's David Gergen: "I thought that McCain had the best start than he's had in any debate. The first 30 minutes I thought he excelled, I thought he played very well to his base. Obama started to look, I thought, flat." (CNN, 10/15/08)

"McCain Has Done Much Of What He Needed To Do Tonight" "he Was Aggressive. He Was Strong. He Was On Offense."

ABC News' Rick Klein: "My sense is that McCain has done much of what he needed to do tonight..." (Rick Klein, "Live Debate Blog," ABC News' "Live Debate" Blog, blogs.abcnews.com, 10/15/08)

· Klein: "The 'long line of McCains' remark a slightly emotional, and probably effective, close." (Rick Klein, "Live Debate Blog," ABC News' "Live Debate" Blog, blogs.abcnews.com, 10/15/08)

Fox News' Charles Krauthammer: "I thought McCain was feisty and tough." (Fox News' "On The Record," 10/15/08)

ABC News' Charlie Gibson: "It was interesting -- my only thought, when he said that, first of all, very good line." (ABC News' "Vote 08: The Final Debate," 10/15/08)
The Washington Post's Chris Cillizza: "McCain's best line of attack in this debate: Obama talks about bipartisanship but doesn't get it done." (Chris Cillizza, "The Fix Twitters The Final Debate!" The Washington Post's "The Fix" Blog, www.washingtonpost.com, 10/15/08)

CNN's Bill Bennett: "Well remember last time I said I didn't think that McCain broke through. I think he did this time. He had a very strong debate." (CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360," 10/15/08)

· Bennett: "Here is what I saw in John McCain -- he was aggressive. He was strong. He was on offense. I thought Obama was flat, professorial -- didn't rise to the occasion. ... McCain was just hammering and I think he scored a lot of points. The most interesting thing about it to me -- thematically - was you saw a real contrast between a conservative and a liberal. You saw a consistent, conservative refrain ... and a liberal refrain mantra from Barack Obama." (CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360," 10/15/08)

MSNBC's Pat Buchanan: "I think it goes to McCain on the issues..." (Pat Buchanan, "Buchanan And Maddow: Live Debate Commentary," MSNBC's "First Read" Blog, firstread.msnbc.com, 10/15/08)

Fox News' Greta Van Susteren: "We certainly saw a different side of John McCain tonight. He came out swinging a little bit more, a little more aggressive." (Fox News' "On The Record," 10/15/08)

Townhall's Amanda Carpenter: "If there is any winner in tonight's debate it's Joe the Plumber and that certainly puts McCain closer to the 'W' column than Barack Obama. By speaking directly to Plumber Joe McCain was able to explain why 'Senator Government,' a welcome Freudian slip, is wrong for the economy during these turbulent economic times." (Amanda Carpenter, "The Wrap Up," Townhall's "Amanda Carpenter" Blog, www.townhall.com, 10/15/08)

· Carpenter: "McCain finally showed he was not afraid to bring up Obama's relationship to the radical William Ayers and hit him for associating so closely with a fraudulent non-profit engaging in rampant voter registration fraud this election." (Amanda Carpenter, "The Wrap Up," Townhall's "Amanda Carpenter" Blog, www.townhall.com, 10/15/08)

TV Fast for John McCain and Sarah Palin

We fast during Lent, we fast in prayer, we fast for intersession.

It struck me that the most powerful fast we could hold would not be a food fast, but a TV fast now through the election.

Except Fox News maybe if you're desperate!

I'm serious about this idea.

It would have a strong impact in numerous ways.

One, we could show the media how tired we are of the way they twist the facts, support candidates, and generally program our family's minds.

Second, it would act as a cleansing. Clear your mind of the garbage that is dumped into it every day by the programs we watch and the subtle messages that are conveyed.

Third, it would help to focus our minds on the importance of electing those who support our values.

Fourth, it would give us precious time. Time to make calls, to write our friends and those we barely know (or strangers) and time to help get John McCain and Sarah Palin elected.

Fifth, it could show our strength as a conservative block.

Sixth, if you believe fasting works, and I do, then this could be just what we need.

We need to send a powerful message and show our strength as conservatives, as supporters of values that go beyond the White House.

It's early morning and I'm just starting to flesh this idea out. I'm tossing it out there to my blogging brethren to help firm it up and sign on if you're interested. I'm going to pass the idea along to W.A.M., McCain-Palin08, NOBamanation and some other groups to see what they think. I already have a logo in mind and am willing to put feet to the words.

Let me know what you think.

Poor poor Wittle Obama. Don't you cry.

Awww, I feel so sowwy for wittle Obama. Poor Obama doesn't like it that those big bad mean media types over at Fox News are asking him those tuff qwestions. Don't cwy Mr. Obama, everybody else is protecting you.

What a wuss. Whine, whine, whine. Toss a chunk of cheese at him to go with the latte.

Have you heard about the interview he did with the New York Times Magazine? He said Fox News has cost him a couple of points in the polls. They have the audacity to portray him as a liberal. Oh my! I'm shocked.

Here's a quote from an article on Fox about the Obaby's interview:

"I am convinced that if there were no Fox News, I might be two or three
points higher in the polls," Obama says in the article. "If I were watching Fox
News, I wouldn't vote for me, right? Because the way I'm portrayed 24/7 is as a
freak!"

He continues that he is being typecast as "the latte-sipping, New York
Times-reading, Volvo-driving, no-gun-owning, effet, politically correct,
arrogant liberal. Who wants somebody like that?"

Obama's reference to his poll numbers comes at a time when he has
opened up a commanding lead over his rival, John McCain, in national polls, as
well as in several battleground states. A recent New York Times poll puts Obama
ahead by 14 percentage points.

Have you heard Sarah Palin whining about how ALL of the media is treating her? Have you heard John McCain whining about how the liberal media is attacking him? They answer a question if asked, but you never hear them taking on the trash job the media does on them every single day.

Obama gets the red carpet royal treatment by the majority of the media.

Can you imagine what his reaction is going to be if he's elected? What do you want to be that the Fairness Doctrine comes into play? How long do you think it will be before he shuts down some of the media because it's "contributing to the bad economy"?

If Barack Obama can't handle the kid-glove approach even Fox News has taken with him (aside from maybe Sean Hannity or Bill O'Reilly), I can't wait for the first time the media types don't like something he does and they actually ask him a tough question.

What a whiner. Ya think he's gonna stand up for us if he can't even handle Fox News? What do you think is going to happen when the French, the Chinese, the Iranians don't like something he does? Oooh, his feelings will be hurt and he'll have to do whatever it takes to make them happy.

Wimp.

NYT: Obama Laments Media Image, Says FOX News Cost Him in Polls
Barack Obama riffs on his media image in an interview for the New York Times Magazine, which quotes him as suggesting FOX News has cost him a few points in the polls.
The interview with reporter Matt Bai, to be published Sunday, features the Democratic presidential candidate feeling lamenting a "media narrative" that has pigeon-holed him as a liberal stereotype.

No Deal.

Go check out this site, think about adding the ACORN or other info to your blog (especially if you're a Democrat voting for McCain, or a P.U.M.A. , or an Independent).

http://www.justsaynodeal.com/acorn.html

The site is a little difficult to maneuver around and figure out where you're going next (and then get back to a page using links once you're a few pages beyond) but it is chocked full of good info and I love the idea, the direction and enthusiasm.

Obama's Tax Plan

Aside from Obama's statement, umm I mean promise, to give everyone a tax cut (which means 40% of the people get a check since they don't pay taxes), there is this issue of taking away the Bush tax cuts. (One hand gives while the other takes)

I'll have to admit I haven't really payed that much attention to the details as it isn't going to affect my vote. However, I have friends who it will impact heavily and they are very, very concerned.

I was talking to a friend Monday who's husband has a partnership. The company, on the books, makes over Obama's $250,000 line. However, they invest a large chunk back in the business AND it's split between two families. They've looked at the plan and they figure it will put them out of business. With the economy being like it is at the moment, the two owners have already substantially cut back their own salaries in order to keep all of their employees. There is light on the horizon for this successful business... as long as Obama doesn't enact his business stopping plans.

I have a small business but not one that should be directly affected by the Obama's tax plans. Indirectly it stands to kill our business. We depend on advertisers to pay the bills. We're doing fine right now, even with the economic crisis. However, as businesses cut back funding for things like advertising will be heavily decreased.

I was listening to a financial program this morning. They were discussing McCain and Obama's plans. One thing I found very interesting is that Obama's advisers are from think tanks, colleges, and they're academics. McCain's advisers are CEO's and business types.

Guess who I want advising our President? It sure isn't someone who's never run a business, dealt with a payroll or had to make decisions that affect their bottom line.

I used to work for a large company, quasi-government. It was a cush job. Being a work-aholic with drive and a need to please, I worked my butt off and rose fairly fast in the ranks. However, while I had to hire and fire, deal with budgets and the bottom line of my area of responsibility, I really didn't see the big picture. I had a nice salary, a 401K plan, retirement, medical (cheap, too), a free physical every year, parking, a nice corner office, a cafeteria that sold at a discount to employees, and we even had a gym! Nice job.

If you'd asked about my political leanings I probably would have said I was Independent, maybe Democrat. Until I left and started my own business.

My eyes were opened quickly to the meaning of self reliance, self responsibility and how some of those policies I had supported in the past affected every-day life. Within the first year I sought out the local Republican Party and have never looked back. The more I stood for myself and wasn't coddled the stronger I felt about our country, free market values and the need for people to stand up for what is right.

It's easy to be sucked into lib-land if you work for big companies. It's me-me-me. Give me more pay, give me more benefits, give me a bigger office, give me more supplies, workers, etc., etc. It's hard to articulate the difference between a job where you're not providing for others and one where you are responsible for everything.

I heard a survey earlier today that said something like 80 plus percent of business owners feared a win by Obama.

If you think it's bad now, wait until the Democrats control Congress and the White House. I think we're already on the road to socialism, especially with all that is going on in regards to nationalizing banks, etc. President Bush says it's short term, but does anyone believe it will be short term if Obama takes over? They will blame Bush, then extend things until it's too late for us to turn back. I have a hard time believing that President Bush could be so naive. If Obama wins on November 4th they better back off before January 1 or it'll never change.

John McCain's Pro-Growth Tax Plan

John McCain believes that the taxes Americans pay should be low, simple and fair. In this time of economic crisis, only John McCain has proposed a bold, pro-growth agenda to lower taxes and jumpstart our economy.

These are some of John McCain's proposals that will reform the tax code, stimulate job growth and return our country to economic prosperity:

Permanently repeal the Alternative Minimum Tax. This initiative alone would save 25 million middle class families nearly $60 billion in a single year -- that's an average of over $2,700 per middle class family with children.

Double the personal exemption for dependents. John McCain believes t he tax code should be less of a burden on those, whether they are mothers and fathers or single parents, who are trying to raise a family. He proposes to raise the personal exemption for each dependent from $3,500 to $7,000.

Cut the corporate tax rate from 35 to 25 percent. America has the 2nd highest corporate tax rate in the world; lower taxes will provide an incentive for companies to do business in America and prevent jobs from moving overseas. Senator Obama's plan to raise taxes on the 23 million small business that make more than $250,000 a year would only result in fewer American jobs and weaker job security for American workers.

Keep the current rates on dividends and capital gains and fight anti-growth efforts by Democrats. Senator Obama's proposal to lift the payroll tax income cap will be the largest tax increase in history -- $1 trillion - and will impact 3 m illion small business owners. In fact, under Senator Obama's plan, 865,000 jobs will be lost by the year 2015.

Enact an alternative new and simpler tax system. When this reform is enacted, all who wish to stay under the current system could still do so, but everyone else could choose a vastly less complicated system with two tax rates and a generous standard deduction.

Americans Can't Afford Senator Obama's Higher Taxes

Americans can trust John McCain to cut our taxes, unlike Senator Barack Obama, who has voted 94 times for higher taxes. During his political career, Senator Obama has advocated for higher energy taxes, higher income taxes, higher social security taxes, and higher small business taxes. In these times of economic difficulty, the last thing the American people can afford is a tax increase.

John McCain knows that higher taxes discourage small businesses and entrepreneurs, inhibit economic freedom and slow long-term growth. As president, John McCain will fight the Democrats' plan for the largest tax increase in history, and he will work to make it harder for Congress to raise taxes by requiring a 3/5 majority vote.

You can trust that during this financial crisis, John McCain will fight hard every day to make sure the government does not make life harder on you and your family.

Ads for your blog --- please help spread the word!

Stacy at http://smartgirlpolitics.blogspot.com/ writes: "Let Freedom Ring" is beginning a new campaign ad I believe today. They have about 20 new youtube ads that will be on the radio and tv. They are good.....no they are great ads. I have one of them "Chicken Button" on my site now. It is hysterical. If we used our network and everyone put a few of these ads on their sites, we could make them go viral.

The ads are consolidated at: http://neverfindout.org/. Looks like a one-stop shopping place for some very cool posts. Just grab them off the site. Take a look.

John McCain Speech, Blue Bell, PA -- Fantastic!

I just finished listening to John McCain give the following speech. It was phenomenal! Wow! It loses some of the impact when reading it rather than hearing it, but he really did a great job and I loved the ending!!! Let's FIGHT for our country! (I'll see if I can get a YouTube video for you)

Here's the speech:

Thank you all very much. I appreciate the warm welcome to Pennsylvania, and the hospitality of Montgomery County Community College.

Tomorrow will be the third and final presidential debate, and just 21 days remain until Americans choose their next president. Over the last 21 days, we have seen once-sturdy Wall Street institutions vanish, we have seen huge swings in the market both down and up, and we have seen new federal commitments in the hundreds of billions of dollars. We have seen how suddenly a crisis can unfold these last several weeks, and how great the costs can be in jobs, savings, lost opportunities and taxpayer dollars. What we need to see now is swift and bold action to lead this country in a new direction.

If I am elected president, I will help to create jobs for Americans in the most effective way a president can do this -- with tax cuts that are directed specifically to create jobs, and protect your life savings. I will stand up to the corrupt ways of Washington, the wasteful spending and the abuses of power and I will end these abuses, whatever it takes. I will lead reforms to help families keep their homes, and retirees to keep their savings, and college students to pay their tuition, and every citizen to afford health care, and America to reclaim its energy independence.

These will be my priorities. We cannot spend the next four years as we have spent much of the last eight: waiting for our luck to change. The hour is late and our troubles are getting worse. We have to act immediately. We have to change direction now. We have to fight.

That is what I will do in my term as president, and when I leave office I can promise you that this nation will not be on the same path it is today. I will not play along with the same Washington games and gimmicks that got us into this terrible mess in the first place. I am going to Washington to fight for you.

I will begin by making certain that the 700 billion dollars already committed to economic recovery is not used to further enrich the very people and institutions that invited these troubles with their own reckless conduct. Instead of just propping up institutions deemed "too big to fail" in this crisis, we will use more of this public money to help businesses and homeowners that may be too small to survive.

This financial crisis started with our housing crisis, and we cannot fix our markets and the economy until we fix the housing crisis. My plan will protect the value of your home and get it rising again by buying up bad mortgages and refinancing them so if your neighbor defaults he doesn't bring down the value of your house with him. I will direct the government to refinance troubled mortgages for homeowners and replace them with mortgages they can afford. This is what we did during the Great Depression and we can do it again. Helping families who face default, foreclosure, and possible bankruptcy helps all homeowners, and will begin the process of recovery from this crisis. With so much on the line, the moment requires that government act -- and as president I intend to act, quickly and decisively.

When the government does provide funds to shore up companies, the terms will be demanding, there will be complete transparency and the safety net for our financial system will not become a golden parachute for failed executives. Moreover, we will not merely inject billions of dollars into companies and walk away hoping for the best. We will require that those companies be reformed and restructured until they are sound assets again, and can be sold at no loss -- or perhaps even a profit -- to the taxpayers of America.

And when that is accomplished, in each instance, government will relinquish its interest in these private companies. We're going to get government out of the business of bailouts and equity stakes, and back in the business of responsible regulation. We will learn from this crisis to prevent the next one, with much stricter oversight. No more wild overleveraging, no more liabilities concealed from the public and from shareholders, no more bundling of assets to maximize profit by assuming insane risks. Those days are over on Wall Street. With new rules of public disclosure and accounting, my reforms will make certain these betrayals of shareholders and the public trust are never repeated.

We must restore trust to our financial system. On my orders, the Department of the Treasury will guarantee one hundred percent of all savings accounts for a period of six months. This will calm the understandable fears of widespread bank failure, while also restoring rational judgment to the choices of the market.

As president, I will also act to protect investors -- especially those relying on their investments for retirement. Current rules mandate that investors must begin to sell off their IRAs and 401Ks when they reach age 70 and one half years old. Those rules should be suspended to spare senior citizens from being forced to sell their stock just as the market is hurting the most. Under the emergency measure I propose, we will also cut the tax rate for withdrawals from tax-preferred retirement accounts to ten percent. Retirees have suffered enough and need relief, and the surest relief is to let them keep more of their own savings.

It is essential that we avoid an exodus of capital from the market. Senator Obama yesterday offered up a proposal that would have the effect of encouraging early withdrawal of funds from 401(k) accounts, by suspending penalties through 2009. This is an invitation to capital flight, and therefore to continued instability in the market, at a moment when exactly the opposite is needed. Any family that takes part in this will not see the benefits of the market recovery that smart policy can help bring about. In my administration, we will instead revive the market by attracting new investment. I will cut in half the capital gains tax on stocks purchased and held for more than a year -- from a rate of 15 to 7.5 percent. This vital measure will promote buying, raise asset values, help companies and shore up the pension plans for workers and retirees.

We should also not penalize Americans who are forced to sell investments in today's tough markets. I will increase the amount of capital losses from $3,000 to $15,000, which can be deducted from your ordinary income in tax years 2008 and 2009. So much of this decline in our markets and value destruction was due to the failure of Congress and the Administration to come out with a timely rescue package. Investors are always responsible for their investment decisions, but the hard earned savings of Americans should not be penalized by the erratic behavior of politicians.

It will not be enough for the federal government to correct the excesses of Wall Street without reforming its own reckless practices.

Spending in Washington is out of control and I am going to rein it in. As president, I will veto the pork barrel special interest projects that are wasting your tax dollars, driving up our debt, and weakening our dollar. I have proposed a one year spending freeze with certain exceptions for such things as defense and veteran care. We are going to use that year to turn Washington inside out and get rid of wasteful, inefficient programs that do no one any good.

While we put government back on your side, we must reform our tax system to deliver needed tax relief to working Americans, and to create jobs. I will double the child deduction, from 3,500 dollars to 7,000 dollars. Every person in America who chooses it will receive a 5,000 dollars towards the purchase of health insurance -- health plans that will be theirs to keep, even if they change jobs or move to another state. And we will reduce the federal business tax rate from 35 percent -- the second-highest in the world -- to 25 percent. I am also proposing today that for those who are between jobs, we eliminate all taxes on unemployment benefits. It is unclear to me why the government taxes money it has just sent you, and we should relieve this burden from Americans who've been hit the hardest.

Reducing business tax rates has the potential to stop and reverse the rise of unemployment, and could create millions of new jobs. Despite the frequent changes to my opponent's tax plans in recent months -- he seems to revise them with each new poll -- his plan to raise taxes on 50% of small business income has survived. And even as he rails against companies that shut down their plants and move overseas, he refuses to cut the tax rate that drives many of these companies away.

A typical middle-class family of four making 42,000 dollars a year with health insurance will get 4,350 more dollars under my plan than they would under Senator Obama's plan. That example of 42,000 a year in wages is especially relevant, because just last year Senator Obama voted to raise taxes on individuals making that amount.

Senator Obama is also the same fellow who requested a million dollars a day in pork barrel earmarks ... who thinks that wasting 18 billion dollars a year in earmarks is not worth worrying about, who proposed a near doubling of the taxes on dividends and capital gains during the primary, who has voted 94 times for tax increases or against tax cuts, who is promising almost a trillion dollars in new spending, who came to the Senate a few years ago and already earned the title of its most liberal member -- this is the man who now presents himself as a tax cutter and champion of middle-class America.

He is an eloquent speaker, but even he can't turn a record of supporting higher taxes into a credible promise to cut taxes. What he promises today is the opposite of what he has done his entire career. Perhaps never before in history have the American people been asked to risk so much based on so little.

You can look at the record of what he's done or you can just go with your gut, but either way you're left with the same conclusion: Senator Obama is going to raise your taxes. And in this economy, raising taxes is the surest way to turn a recession into a depression.

Senator Obama also promises to restrict international trade and risk access to foreign markets for American goods and services. The last President to raise taxes and restrict trade in a bad economy was Herbert Hoover. That didn't turn out to well. They say those who fail to learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them. Well, I know my history lessons, and I sure won't make the mistakes Senator Obama will. And were my opponent elected with a Democratic Congress in power, not only would there be no check on my opponent's reckless economic policies, there would be considerable pressure on him to tax and spend even more.

This weekend, a plumber concerned that Senator Obama was going to raise his taxes asked him directly about his plan. The response was telling. Senator Obama explained to him that he was going to raise his taxes to quote "spread the wealth around." This explains how Senator Obama can promise an income tax cut for millions who aren't even paying income taxes right now. My friends, my plan isn't intended to force small businesses to cut jobs to pay higher taxes so we can "spread the wealth around." My plan is intended to create jobs and increase the wealth of all Americans.

My plan for economic recovery does not require guesswork or blind faith from the American people. You know my record. You don't have to hope I will do what I promise. When I say I will cut spending, you need only look at my record to know it's true. When I say I will defend taxpayers, you know it's true because it's what I've always done. When I say I will work across the aisle, you can see it in the results I've delivered.

And when I say I will change Washington, you know I'll do it, because for me change isn't a political slogan, it's what I've been doing my whole career.

I know you're worried. America is a great country, but we are at a moment of national crisis that will determine our future. Will we continue to lead the world's economies or will we be overtaken? Will the world become safer or more dangerous? Will our military remain the strongest in the world? Will our children and grandchildren's future be brighter than ours?

My answer to you is yes. Yes, we will lead. Yes, we will prosper. Yes, we will be safer. Yes, we will pass on to our children a stronger, better country. But we must be prepared to act swiftly, boldly, with courage and wisdom.

I know what fear feels like. It's a thief in the night who robs your strength.

I know what hopelessness feels like. It's an enemy who defeats your will.

I felt those things once before. I will never let them in again. I'm an American. And I choose to fight.

Don't give up hope. Be strong. Have courage. And fight.

Fight for a new direction for our country.

Fight for what's right for America.

Fight to clean up the mess of corruption, infighting and selfishness in Washington.

Fight to get our economy out of the ditch and back in the lead.

Fight for the ideals and character of a free people.

Fight for our children's future.

Fight for justice and opportunity for all.

Stand up to defend our country from its enemies.

Stand up, stand up, stand up and fight. America is worth fighting for. Nothing is inevitable here.

We never give up. We never quit. We never hide from history. We make history.

Now, let's go win this election and get this country moving again.

Two Photos. Priceless!

God love our troops (and He does)! Isn't it great to have a sense of humor during tough times?

Democrats show how to get along, work together

Gee, you think the Dems are really wanting to reach across the aisle? Hmmm, let's ask Nancy Pelosi how she really feels about that one. How can the Democrats complain because someone says something slightly off color at a Sarah Palin rally?

Thanks to Grammy Crackers for finding this one!

Why won't Obama show us his birth certificate?

If I were running for President, or an office of any sort, and someone started questioning my place of birth, I'd show them my birth certificate and be done with it. What's the big deal Obama? Why won't you show your birth certificate? Why fight it in court? Why waste the money and time? If it's legit, it's legit. I would normally have a tendency to brush this off, but it is a simple request to ask of someone who's running for office. Lots of questions asked on this video and they deserve an answer. A simple answer.

Just curious --- can't anyone get a copy of a birth certificate? What's the legal aspect of this one? Aren't birth certificates filed at the local courthouse? I had to request mine years back and I didn't know where I was born at the time. It wasn't a big deal to find out and to get copies for my records. It just doesn't make sense that Obama would hide this one if there's nothing to hide.

Is Paranoia Contagious?

I think I'm catching paranoia.

The more I read the more fearful I become about our future.

I think the Annenberg thing I just posted may have completely killed all of my paranoia antibodies. It's spreading rampant through my veins and I'm going to be a full blown conspiracy theorist before this election is over.

If you sit back and look at all the pieces it's easy to take the plunge.

Think about it.

Democrat Congress.

Democrat President.

Open Supreme Court Justice seats filled with libs.

The world conspiring together on our finances.

The need for a savior.

The nationalization of huge chunks of our countries once free-market.

Barack Obama's ties, no matter how tenuous, to Marxist, Socialist, terrorists, Muslims, etc., etc., etc.

He's buying a television station (or did someone get buying half an hour on prime time major TV stations mixed up?)

The school kids singing praises to Mao-Obama in China-Communist-style.

The school kids in fatigues, thumping their chests, marching and shouting Obama mantras.

The attacks on newspapers and media in Mississippi (or Missouri?) if they say things that the Obamamites don't like.

The ACORN actions across the country to steal votes.

People fainting and swooning when Obama speaks.

The college students who can't identify the Vice President, Joe Biden, Sarah Palin or other political figure's photos, but they're voting Obama because he's for "change".

The media's inability to say anything negative about Obama or ask a question of any import about Obama.

Obama's ties to ACORN.

Obama's ties to FactCheck.org.

All the "Obama is the Anti-Christ" emails I get.

Reverend Wright and his anti-America, black theology.

What have I missed?

It is scary to the nth degree.

I don't know if I need a stronger inoculation or I just need to give in and go with it.

Finally found it: Barack Obama, FactCheck.org and the Annenberg Foundation

I had heard that FactCheck.org, the place to go for verification of facts in politics, was spitting out some things that just didn't check out. Obamatalk over Obamafact. I had also heard that Obama had ties to FactCheck.org through the Annenberg Foundation. I just did a little looking around and here's three articles that cover it better than I ever could:

Obama, FactCheck.org, Ayers, and the Annenburg Foundation
There is a disturbing link between Barack Obama, FactCheck.org, and William Ayers. National Review reports that William Ayers and Barack Obama both served as co-chairs of the Chicago Annenburg Challenge. Obama called for an $3.5 million dollar earmark for the Annenburg Foundation that sponsors FactCheck.org. Several FactCheck articles have been viewed as promoting the Obama campaign line instead of truly acting as a fact checkers. Controlling the ‘facts’ is a hallmark of a totalitarian regime, and this is a truly unsettling connection....

Obama’s ChallengeThe campaign speaks to “Radicalism.”
By Stanley Kurtz
Today, in a piece in the Wall Street Journal entitled, “Obama and Ayers Pushed Radicalism On Schools,” I offer a report on my research into the archives of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC), an education foundation once headed by Barack Obama. As I explained in “Chicago Annenberg Challenge Shutdown?” the Richard J. Daley Library of the University of Illinois at Chicago first agreed to grant, then abruptly denied me, access to the files of this foundation. Subsequently, the Daley Library again reversed their decision and made the CAC files available.

The Annenberg Foundation/Obama/FactCheck/Brady Center Connection
Patterico @ 11:11 pm
The other day I savaged a FactCheck piece on Obama and gun rights. I noted that FactCheck elevated Obama’s campaign rhetoric over his record. I couldn’t see how an organization allegedly devoted to “facts” could be so naive.
Xrlq joined in, and had plenty of links to others who also bashed FactCheck.
We now have a possible reason why FactCheck seemed to be in Obama’s pocket. Namely, FactCheck’s sugar daddy is a big donor to the anti-Second Amendment folks at the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence.
FactCheck supposedly exists to look beyond a politician’s claims. Ironically, in its analysis of NRA materials on Barack Obama, these so-called “FactCheckers” use the election year campaign rhetoric of a presidential candidate and a verbal claim by one of the most zealous gun control supporters in Congress to refute facts compiled by NRA’s research of vote records and review of legislative language.
